Daddy Long Legs or Something Rotten?

I am coming in next Wed and have tix for The King and I and Color Purple. I am hoping for SRO for Waitress, rush for Shuffle, and tkts for Curious Dog, She Loves Me.

I am really enjoying the Rotten soundtrack and seems like there is some tap dancing in there, which is my favorite. I have heard though that Daddy is very good and there are discounts on Goldstar.

Any suggestions?

DADDY LONG-LEGS. For sure. Do it.

They are both so drastically different but so good. I loved Daddy Long Legs, Its quiet, sweet and wonderfully presented. Something Rotten is fun, lively and entertaining. Depends on your taste.

You can't go wrong with either-

One is a huge Broadway Show with laughs every 30 seconds. Big, first rate cast, settings, countless Gregg Barnes costumes, big orchestra and dances at a legendary theater.

The other is a sweet tiny, intimate musical with first rate everything.

The latter can be seen online though with great camera work and at a fraction of the cost.

The former is Broadway in all capital letters.

I know I'm in the minority but I didn't love Daddy Long Legs when I saw it last week. It's sweet and the music is pretty, but I thought it was too long for the material and all the songs sounded exactly alike. I thought there may have been other ways to tell the story that would've been more entertaining to me. I didn't hate it, but I'm glad I didn't miss something else to see it.

I loved something rotten. I thought it was hilarious, especially if you're a musical theater fan. The performances are great and I was glad to have seen the original cast.

These really are about as different as two shows could be. A two-hander that is romantic, sweet, and quiet, and a big showy romp with a huge ensemble and lots of dancing.

I know they did the live stream a few months ago, but people can still access it? If so, PLEASE PM ME. This was one of my favorite shows on my recent trip to NYC and would love to see it again.

I am in complete agreement with this. DDL is an enjoyable, two person show, but I couln not distinguish one song from the next. Something Different is FUN in a way that TKAI or Color Purple are not. It is silly, laugh out loud funny, and you will leave with a smile on your face.

Daddy Long Legs. I saw it on my last trip and absolutely adored it. Lovely story, strong acting, wonderful songs.

I love both shows, which as others mentioned, are completely different in scope. If I had to choose, it would be Something Rotten before Brian d'Arcy James leaves.

Rotten. Even though James might be leaving, his replacement Rob Mc Clure ain't chicken liver either.

Totally depends on the mood you're in, I agree. Daddy Long Legs is a small, intimate love story in an intimate setting with some great performances and music. SR is a big and brash Broadway show with great performances and music.
