Dave to broadway?

I thought it was already confirmed, though I’m not sure what the timeline is.

How were the reviews? I feel like it has no momentum coming out of DC. If memory serves, DEH had much more buzz prior to the 2nd Stage run.

Since it has the same producer as Beetlejuice (Warner Bros), I wouldn't think we'd see it this season, for the same reason we won't see Moulin Rouge and King Kong in the same season.

Dave to broadway?

Has potential but needs some work. I can't remember any of the score. If I it were up to be, I would make this a breezy 1 hour 45 minute/2 hour musical without an intermission. It dragged without an actual purpose.

I liked it quite a bit in DC. The second act needed a good bit of work, but it was very funny and had some very nice moments....without being TOO on the nose in today's political environment. In particular I liked Drew Gehling's portrayal of the title character. The buzz was good...but not great. The Washington Post didn't give it a rave.

I hope it's good and transfers to Broadway because I rather my first association with the name "Dave" and the word "Broadway" to be something totally different than what it is right now thanks to this board.

Bring a BWW thread about race to Broadway, then Dave will come to Broadway.

Dave to broadway?

I really, really hope not. I love the movie Dave so much, but I hated this musical. It somehow managed to be simultaneously boring, pandering, and jingoistic. It strips all the charm out of the movie, and somehow manages to make a story from 20 years ago into a celebration of hating modern republicans, infused with a really offensive forced patriotism. There were also no memorable songs. I love the cast, and I really went into this with high hopes. But it was awful.
