I was in charge of getting tickets for my school's theater trip, and I got $35 per ticket for Curtains, but my teacher is very worried that David Hyde Pierce won't show up for the wednesday matinee.
Does he generally go to Matinees?
i would've thought he does, but my teacher seemed to think some actors don't perform at matinees.
Why would your teacher think that? He is scheduled to give all performances.
David Hyde Pierce has a wonderful attendance record.

thats what i THOUGHT. i definately understand if he calls out the day we're there, since although it'd be a disappointing thing, everyone is entitled to understudy days
i was just making sure my teacher was wrong in thinking odds were good he'd be out
Your teacher is right in that SOME actors don't perform at matinees. But David Hyde Pierce is not one of them.
DHP has an impecable attendance record and he does matinees.
Actually, not even that. I can't think of Broadway performers who are not contracted for 8 shows a week. The only ones I can think of are the Christines in Phantom and Cassie in ACL.
DHP is the ultimate perfessional, he'll be there. Enjoy the show - it's a blast!
You should see David at your performance.
DHP definitely does Saturday matinees, because I saw him then. Performers do sometimes have a regular performance off written into their contract, but if they are a big name then people are usually informed when buying tickets. Fantasia had Wednesday matinees off, but did Sunday matinees, at the end of her run, and when I was buying tickets there was a note online to that effect. Chaka Kahn doesn't do matinees at all in Color Purple.
Saw a Wednesday matinee in December and he was there. Enjoy the show, it's a lot of fun!
If I'm not mistaken, Sara Ramirez stopped doing matinees after she won her Tony for SPAMALOT. Too much strain on the vocal cords. But I imagine her vocalizations for that show were a strain on the ole cords. Wish she'd come back to Broadway.
Yes, he does Matinees. He has a marvelous attendance record.

How did you get $35 tickets?

"How did you get $35 tickets?"
If you go to broadway.com and select "educators" you can buy group tickets (I think some start at upwards of 8, most are 15).
For Curtains, if you choose a matinee performance, you can tehn choose "student mezz." These tickets are only $35.
AT least, I think this is how he did it.
Has DHP ever missed outside of his vacation in September?
Anyways, his attendance record is amazing, and he's fantastic in the show. Enjoy it!

first of all, I'm a she ^_^ thats okay.
I'm not an educator, i'm a student, but i got the similar discount.
I used telecharge group sales, and i chose the cheapest possible student seats for $35.
i'll let everyone know how it works out
I saw him at a matinee performance. Loved the show!!!! Enjoy
David has performed every single performance in CURTAINS except for his one week scheduled vacation in October. I think he has one of the best attendance records I've ever heard of in this day and age.
Correct, DRS.
Also, with the exception of a one week scheduled vacation, David Hyde Pierce never missed a single performance in his one year run of SPAMALOT, among an original cast that missed performances left and right.
