Posted: 8/14/04 at 11:06pmI saw one of the 'American Idol' finalists in a local production of Joseph - she had NO background, couldn't have cared less about learning anything and was a horror to sit through. AND her Joseph was Bill Hutton - who displayed ENORMOUS patience with her.

Posted: 8/15/04 at 12:06amYou'd have to pay me $100 to watch DeGarmo on stage. Let's hope she starts the hosting local beauty pageants phase of her career as soon as possible.

"A) She is WAY too short to be Elphaba. Elphaba is supposed to be tall, and gawky. Diana is what 5'3 ish around in there. She would make a better G(A)linda"
Elphaba isn't supposed to be tall (JLT is taller than Idina)...Idina's only 5'4.

Posted: 8/15/04 at 12:37amI think that's the most genius bit of casting I've seen suggested on this board in ages. The part of Elphaba absolutely cries out for a 17 year old who looks as if she aspires to be a flight attendant supervisor or hostess at The Olive Garden.

Seriously? Dude, I'm like five inches taller than she is and I'm only 15! Crazy. Is Chinowith uber short than? Because there is this picture of Elphaba standing facing Glinda, and she looks a whole head taller than she is. I've never seen either of them so sorry if all my information is wrong. :)

you know that scene in office space, when after all the mumbling, milton finally burns down the building?
that's what's gonna happen if that stupid chipmunk steps anywhere NEAR that theatre.

Posted: 8/15/04 at 3:51amMaybe in a few years she could be a good elphie, and I totally agree with Jennifer Hudson as Mama, Diana and Jennifer were my 2 favorites

Posted: 8/15/04 at 1:47pmWow. J hud would make an AMAZING Mama Morton. I never thought of that before. Jen was my favorite contestant, and if you ask me...she has the perfect voice and attitude for the role.

i saw DD's cd at the normal price of 5 dollars at B&N.
I say no way. no 16 year old is ready for that part.

Posted: 8/15/04 at 5:25pmljay889- i was really hoping she would have sung "when your good to mama" for movie week. Also more age appropriate part for her would be joanne in rent

Posted: 8/15/04 at 5:50pmThis goes way back to derek2, but if you love the play, you will most likely hate the book. At least, that's how it went for me. I was introduced to the show first, and read the book second. In essence, it is basically nothing like the show. There are so many differences. If you want to know some of them, just let me know. Be prepared for disappointment if you're looking for the book and musical to coincide. Doesn't happen at all.

Posted: 8/15/04 at 6:07pmi can understand why she would want to play the part. but i think she will have to keep dreaming cause she looks way to young and her voice isnt fully developed..i dont think they would give her a chance right now.
