Not only is it very common for Second Stage to extend their productions (musicals, especially)... the run is selling quite well and nothing is scheduled to move into their 43rd Street theater space (Layover, directed by Trip Cullman) until August. There is an extremely high chance this WILL extend, actually.

great, greaselightening. glad you are comfortable making those predictions. i am not. i am simply telling you facts as they currently stand! one of which is that there are, as of today, no concrete plans of an extension. obviously that could always change! really anything is possible :)
You predicted/hinted at a BW run, with GL only suggesting/predicting a good chance at extention....I don't think his suggestion was more daring than was yours.

That's definitely interesting, GreasedLightning. The fact the theater is available in June (as far as we know) and that there's been so much buzz since D.C. are indeed what made me wonder about a possible extension. (And just hopeful selfishness, of course!) Well, all I can do is wait and see. But good to know it's not something that's never happened in the past.

Forgive my ignorance if this has already been discussed, but will there be a cast recording for this show?
Haven't yet heard any announcement.yet. Does 2nd Stage often record?

Dogfight by Pasek and Paul was also 2ST, so...
Yes, Dogfight was recorded and released and was quite a good cast recording now that I'm thinking about it. Maybe I'll revisit it tomorrow on my commute to work!
I do wonder, though, if sights for this are set on Broadway if they will wait to record or release it until then.
I know in a video ben said they were hoping they would follow the same path next to normal had taken. the next step would obviously be Broadway.

I'd be surprised if there wasn't a recording eventually. Wasn't Stacey Mindich listed on the back of the Encores A New Brain recording as a benefactor?
Double post.

N2N didn't go from 2nd Stage to B'way. It was reworked and went to DC, first. And even then people were shocked when it announced.
^ I know that, but they are similar paths.

i dont know who you are, dramamama, but i dont appreciate you accusing me of hypocrisy. i suggested Broadway because there are TENTATIVE plans for that if all goes well at 2ST. the extension, on the other hand, is not being discussed. but who knows? as i said... that could ALWAYS CHANGE. i do not disagree that it is very possible!
either way, i look forward to this musical. again... if box office goes well and the reviews are as positive as last summer, you'll see this on bway and a cast recording shortly thereafter! also -- cannot compare the cast recording situation to Dogfight. with Dogfight there was an understanding it would NOT continue after 2ST... the cast recording was done for licensing purposes.

I accused you of nothing. Just put the two comments as just as likely as each other.
I am looking at tickets to this show at Second Stage Theatre in May. When I go online to buy a ticket, it doesn't give me a choice of seats, but instead assigns me one. I guess I am going to have to call the box office to get a better seat. Is anyone here familiar with this venue and can recommend a row or seat number?
ANY seat there is good, really, except for the boxes.
It's a pretty small theater, and really no bad seats....except the boxes (which are only are one side). The seats are no wider than the stage, so there shouldn't be a problem even with the extreme sides....as they are not actually extreme.
Edited: I must have been typing when you answered!

Thank you! The website is offering me B 114, but I think I will call during box office hours and try to get something near the aisle center if it's the same price. I am looking at Sunday matinee in May. I wonder if I could just show up earlier that week and buy a ticket instead?
While I agree that there are no bad seats in the house, I'd love to see Second Stage hop on the bandwagon with interactive seating charts. People want to choose their seats these days.
ETA: B114 is an aisle seat at Second Stage, in the second row. I've actually sat there and it is quite a good seat. (Unless you mean you want something closer to center, which I understand!)

Did I hear correctly they they have a new opening number? This and She Loves Me are my most anticipated musicals of the year (I already saw Hamilton and Waitress). Seeing this next week!

With this show I don't think closer is better. They used a lot of projections in DC(which I'm guessing they'll keep here) and it was difficult to follow all of them. I wasn't really near the front in DC either.
