So can we assume a Dear Evan Hansen cast recording is in the works?

Does this mean they aren't changing anything from 2nd Stage version? I mean, I loved it, but I kind of figured they might make an adjustment or two...
It's possible they could be making promotional tracks.
Since they're trimming the preview period to 2-3 weeks, the show is probably to a large extent frozen. Although it's against my burning desire to put the cast recording on repeat, I'm actually looking forward to some changes in the Broadway production.

I don't think there is any doubt a recording will be made.
6 months before opening seems like an exceptionally long time to record an album.

I'd happily take another song. Having Waving Through a Window on repeat has started to feel a little desperate! :)

No. These recordings are not for an album. They are for promotional and marketing use only. I believe they're recording two or three songs that have since changed from D.C. last summer. No official plans but you can pretty much expect there will be a cast recording at some point. Perhaps in January or February? We'll see.
That's good. The score is really lovely. I saw the show twice in New York (because of having a really bad seat the first time), and the music impressed me even more the second time. I've had the songs in my head, but it's frustrating because just the one song has been released and I can't remember everything. The singing and orchestrations were great too.
I figured this can't be the cast album because John Dossett is leaving to do War Paint in Chicago and the actor from the D.C. run is stepping in again.

Why can't it be the cast album? Michael Park will just record it with the other cast members.

I'm not sure who you are responding to but I'm simply telling you these recent studio sessions were not for an official cast recording. No clue what macnyc was talking about.
If you don't mind bootlegs, you can find most songs on tumblr. The only songs I haven't been able to find are To Break In a Glove and Disappear.

Thanks Liza. It was in response to macnyc's discounting the possibility that it could have been a cast album. Looking forward to the eventual recording!
