If you want star power at the Tonys and there is such a big fuss about Bette Midler perhaps not performing at the Tony Awards. Why wouldn't anyone call a 6 time Academy Award nominee, Emmy and Tony Award winner, star of "Fatal Attraction", "Dangerous Liaisons", "101 Dalmatians", "Stepford Wives", etc and huge Hollywood siren to perform at the awards one of the numbers from the musical "Sunset BLVD", which you completely snubbed for no reason?

"completely snubbed for no reason"?? She won a Tony for this role already, so she was ineligible this year.

Not only do Tony voters have no say, but why invite a performance from a show that got zero nominations anyway? I'd rather have longer performances from the show that were nominated or have the design awards back on the broadcast.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

Finding Neveland? Gigi? Both performed with basically no nominations for best musical or revival. I know that Victoria Clark was nominated though.

Those productions paid to be featured. Tony performances aren't free. If Sunset Blvd wanted to cut a check, they would easily be included. But they probably don't see any reason to spend $300,000 for a performance of a show that closes two weeks after the Tony broadcast.

You can disagree with the latter statement, but the former is just plain fact. Tony voters have no say in what ends up on the broadcast.
