Deborah Gibson up for biggest role of her career

Seriously people, whatever happened to class?
Anyway, I saw her in Cabaret, and while I wasn't keen on her accent, I thought she acted the role well and her singing was incredibly strong and pretty, she was almost too good a singer to be convincing as Sally! And I've heard mixed reviews re Chicago, I've heard nothing but good things about her runs in Gypsy and B&B.

Yes I just turned 32, don't see what that has to do with anything. Except that I've been a fan through the yrs with her, like we've grown up together somewhat. I relate to alot of what she sings about, hits or not...
As I previously said I've seen her live and NEVER heard a lisp, and also NEVER seen 1 credible source (ie: CNN news scoop, though this sounds like something FOX News would hop right on) that there is a lisp at all.
Furthermore this post has nothing to do with that either and I stated to go in the I hate Deborah topic and post all you want about all this negative BS. All it's proven is how assenine some people can be. So congratulations.
All I want is some info about this upcoming role...
Thank you, next,
Chris

That's a shock...Al Dente being rude...go figure...a while back Al, didn't you say you wouldn't be posting as much. Girl needs some follow-through.
Deborah is a very talented girl who has managed a remarkable career turn. She's also not on this board. It's possible she has friends here, but she's not a person to post things about herself or deny who she is. Unlike Ms. Dente.
She has been in callbacks for the role in LA. So it's a very real possibility she could get cast. I'm very sorry they didn't call you in for the role, Al, but take your bile elsewhere.

So far the rumors are
Others: Elphaba in Wicked.
mine :Shelby in Steel Magnolias.
And someone else has suggested: Christine in Phantom
Any other ideas, guesses at this point???

Even though she does have a good voice I don't think it's good enough to pull off those high belting notes in Wicked score.
Some role in the upcoming revival of The Wiz?? (Have they announced the casting yet?)

Posted: 10/11/04 at 4:44pmDawg honey, you need some serious help. Really. And i told you, YOU won't be the one to drive me off this board. It'd really be something if I got called in.

you don't get much whiter than Deborah G.

Posted: 10/11/04 at 4:57pmEasy Matt, DAWG will come after you, try to drive you off the board and accuse you of being some bile filled bitter thing, or since you said what you said, you'll be accused of being 'racist'. Debbie Gibson is uber talented dog, you win, K? Updated On: 10/11/04 at 04:57 PM

"She's also not on this board."
Quite an emphatic statement which leads me to ask on what authority Dawg could make such a statement...

That was my thought exactly Ifliti. When you and I met the first time, did you think I'd make a great Elphaba? Should I be filled with BILE that I'm not getting called in?

Posted: 10/11/04 at 5:23pmWell, Al...I'll admit to thinking maybe a darker, taller, Wizard.... but Elphaba? lol

Actually Al, to quote you:
"Note to Craig and Rob, next time you "wonder where I've been" blame dawg, as I'm a bit fed up with having to "defend" my every opinion which, as unpopular as some of my opinions may be around here, are EXTREMELY valid, like it or not."
That says to me that you're going somewhere...not that anyone would wonder where you've been...but with a promise...excuse me, threat like that you gave us all something to look forward to. Of course your opinions are valid, I never said they weren't. It's just that they're all obnoxious and put forth in a negative, catty and obviously jealous manner.
Have a little follow through, Al...I was so looking forward to you making good on that one.

Posted: 10/11/04 at 5:27pmI thought my posting/opinions were too, but leave it to DAWG to throw the first ammendment out the window completely, or at least re-write to to include, "Only if you solely and exclusively love and adore anything and everything that DAWG does".

Posted: 10/11/04 at 5:31pmI, too, was looking forward to your developing a new "Crush" but clearly I am still your main and number one obsession. I promise, next time Ifliti and I get together, we'll invite you and then we can duke it out in person.

Posted: 10/11/04 at 5:34pmBtw, DAWG, are you able to get into my private message mailbox too, as well as knowing exactly who does and doesn't post/read this site? Seems you know a great deal of info on who would/wouldn't care if I left. Speak for yourself, not the other members. You seem to be so in the loop for just another BWW poster.

Once again, you fail to understand someone else's post...
Calm down about the First Amendment...the point I was making was that you threatened to not be around...which would make for a much nicer place to be...
Read back-
Of course your opinions are valid, I never said they weren't. It's just that they're all obnoxious and put forth in a negative, catty and obviously jealous manner.
And no, I'm no more in the loop than anyone else, but if you look around, you'll see there's an obvious amount of people who have beefs with your behavior...I'm quite clearly not alone.

I'm not getting the jealousy thing, Dawg. It makes no sense. It seems like you are viewing Al's words through your own filter...something we all tend to do.
I had the experience of meeting quite a few people who post here over the weekend (in addition to those I've met in the past). It's amazing how a post can read differently once you've actually met the person.

DG doesn't have a lisp?
Me thinks you need to unclogg your ears. She even talked about it in an interview a few years ago. I don't feel it takes away from the whole performance but it is noticable. But that's not my issue with her.
I have seen Miss Gibson in three shows:
Chicago at North Shore....a boring, unremarkable performance.
B&B.......................a flat, unremakable performance.
Cabaret...................she did a good job finally.
I don't think she's a strong actor and not really of a strong singer. Unfortunately what she does have is a recognizable name and, as we have seen, that's all the Boradway cares about these days.

Is there an irrelevent babble thread for all these off topic posts? lol
Still not deterring my search for real info....
Does anyone know if Mary Poppins is due on Broadway anytime soon?
Another possiblity is Rent she's talked about it quite alot.
Later,
