Though she played Vera Charles at the St Louis MUNY several years ago, I'd love to see Beth Leavel take on Mame.
Victoria Clark would also be sublime in the role.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.

Um, Dee Hoty did NOT play Ziegfeld's Favorite in the original Broadway cast of THE WILL ROGERS FOLLIES - that role was played by Cady Huffman. Dee played Betty Blake, whom Will Rogers married.

I'm really looking forward to seeing "Mame" at Pittsburgh CLO in July. I've done the show several times here in Los Angeles at various theatres, with different outstanding Mames.........Jo Anne Worley, Juliet Prowse, and Carol Lawrence.

Too bad I live way too far from seattle. I would kill to see her play the role. I love that show!
