Posted: 12/9/09 at 11:35pmWell from what I was told back in July is that it would be a country singer from american idol who is possibly from OKlahoma. Which would make me think it would be Carrie Underwood but I would much rather it be Diana Degarmo. She would blow the roof off of the Gershwin!

Posted: 12/10/09 at 12:01amI don't know if the Carrie Underwood statement was satire or what. I sure hope it was but if it wasn't, that would never happen. Carrie just released her new album and will certainly be touring. I'm a huge Carrie Underwood fan but she would be a terrible Elphaba.

No. Mentioning Carrie Underwood shouldn't even be allowed - she's far too talented and, honestly, a vocal goddess. She should never go near Broadway (and she's stated that she has no interest).
You assume too quickly that it will be a bigger name. Do you know how many country singers were on "American Idol" over the years? They usually go for cheap unknowns...
itsboq - it is not Carrie Underwood. She just released an album and has stated she's not interested in Broadway. Additionally, do you know how much it would cost WICKED to even consider this?
Even the name Diana DeGarmo is stretching it. I think many of you will be dissapointed.

I'm not going to believe anything until there is an offical source. All of you need to stop trashing Dee. My sister saw her and thought she was brilliant. I also think she's a terrific singer and actress.
I'm not liking the idea of Diana Degarmo being Elphaba. I saw her in the national tour of "Brookyln" and she completeley oversang every lyric. She shouted at the top of her lungs in every song.
