Yay because I heard she was fantastic, and know I might get a chance to see her.

Btw- that is also my dad's birthday!

That's wonderful news! Diana was such a treat in the show the several times I saw her. She definitely deserves this return engagement.

Wow ... not having been a huge fan of DeGarmo's from "AI" I have to admit that I was totally and completely blown away by her performance in "Hairspray". She truly made it her own and did a fantastic job. I'm interested in seeing/hearing her take on "Brooklyn".

As a side note, once Haylie (sp?) joins the cast and DeGarmo returns we will have four semi-pop-stars in one show. Hopefully business will increase a bit more. It saddened me to see the house only a third full the past two times I've gone. With DeGarmo, Cambell, Duff and Love in the cast it seems like the show could possibly pull a bit more of an audience ... if only for the curiosity factor. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is all relative. P.S. - Does anyone else think Paul Vogt may transfer to Broadway?

anyone else notice that diana's time in the brooklyn tour is a bit... short? Is it closing that quick or something?

If you go to the Brooklyn site it says it is a 7 week tour and the 2nd tour again next spring summer but Diana Degarmo has not signed up for that.

^^Link above is to a CNN interview where Diana talks a bit about Brooklyn, returning to Hairspray, Theatre vs American Idol, and several other topics. She comes across like a very good natured young woman.

Gah.

The tour opens in St. Paul this weekend. I decided I would buy the really crappy $15.00 tickets just out of morbid curiousity, but I am not paying $60 for this abysmal show. The stupid ordway website isn't allowing the option to pick seat location (and therefore price) and is only offering "best available" seat as the option. Well, since the show is selling pretty horribly here (which is interesting considering how quickly most shows sell here, and the insane advertising they've been doing for this show) the "best available" seats are like 8th row center. Which are the full price $60.00 tickets.

I REFUSE TO PAY $60.00 TO SEE BROOKLYN.

I might just try and go over there that day and see if they'll sell me the cheap seats at the door, (and probably move up cause if it keeps selling like this, 60% of the orchestra will be open) cause frankly, at this point, they really need to get asses in those seats.

The tour is actually selling very well.
And Colleen.. we get it you don't like the show. Then DONT see it! You say how much you HATE the show, yet you still got a ticket...

I heard that Caissie Levy is an awesome Penny.

Caissie Levvy played her first two performances after she took over for Diana a few weeks ago but because of hemorrhaging (sp??) in her vocal cords, she's been out of the show. the two covers for Penny have been alternating performances for her. I don't know when she'll be well enough to come back. I'm sure she is amazing though

I hope the BKLYN tour does well. I don't particularly care for the show but it might do well on a smaller scale, in smaller theatres as a more intimate show.

I'm so excited she'll be back, I never had the chance to see her the first time around and I'm a huge fan of hers. BTW, does anyone know exactly how long Haylie Duff is going to be Amber? One of my best friends is obsessed with her (dont ask) and I want to take her for her birthday while Haylie is there. Any ideas?

15 dollar tickets, colleen? The cheapest ones here are like 38 dollars--and that's on matinees. Other days it's something like 45 dollars--and that's for 3rd balcony!

I hope to catch Diana again. I didn't know who she was in the show (I don't watch AI...well, TV at all), but she was great.

The Ordway is a massive barn. Tickets for the gallery are listed at $15. But, for whatever reason, the website isn't allowing you to purchase anything but the $60 tickets. The next price up from that is $35, and that's rear of the upper balcony.

Though the tour may be selling well elsewhere (I don't know, I really haven't investigated), sales here have been dreadful. St. Paul is a big theater market, and almost everything that comes through sells. This show, for whatever reason, is not. It's four days from open and most of the orchestra is still available.

If i hear anything else about Caissie, I'll post it. For now all I know is she's out of the show nursing her vocal cords.

To Coleen
Obviously you haven't learned to move on . Please do call the Ordway to complain about the prices. If your under 25 you can get $23 tickets. This thread by the way is about Diana returning to Hairspray Sept 8 (I heard its actually sept 6.)

I really hope Caissie is alright! It must be horrible to move to Broadway and then have to take off after only two performances.

That really sucks about Caissie. Hope she's okay.

In spirit of keeping this thread about Diana though, check this pic out. re: Diana DeGarmo returns September 8
Looks like Diana got rid of the blonde for Brooklyn. :o
