I mean really, did Cats get a plaque in the lobby of the Winter Garden?

Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist. Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino. This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more. Tazber's: Reply to Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian

It may have. I haven't been to the Winter Garden in years so it's not fresh in my mind.

I don't remember seeing one, but I wasn't looking...

So, that was the Drowsy Chaperone. Oh, I love it so much. I know it's not a perfect show...but it does what a musical is supposed to do. It takes you to another world, and it gives you a little tune to carry with you in your head for when you're feeling blue. Ya know?

I read it as 'plague' and thought, "Well, did it kill ALL 9 lives?"

I can't go inside the Winter Garden until it's current tenant leaves... re: Did Cats get a plaque

Sorry Captain, but who is in the Winter Garden now and why can you not step foot inside?

All kidding about the show itself, it should get a plaque. I mean, there's a Les Mis manhole in front of the Imperial, and Les Mis was never Broadway's longest running musical while Cats, (like it or not), was.

MAMMA MIA! is in there now and I can not step foot inside because I refuse to see bad "art."

I thought Les Miserables became the longest running musical for a bit. I thought it got beaten out by cats and cats by Phantom.

The logic behind this is that before any of the british mega musicals came into town A Chorus Line was the longest running show on Broadway. And that the cast was going to sing "one" as a passing the torch type thing.

CapnHook,

Mamma Mia is not trying to pass off as art. It is fluff and it is trying to come off as nothing shorter then fluff.

Cats was 1982-2000, and Les Mis was 1987-2003. Cats was always ahead by five years, and overtook ACL's record in 1997, right when Les Mis was having its 10th anniversary. Les Mis did overtake ACL's record in 2001-ish, and they did celebrate that, but they never caught up with Cats.

What I understood about the ACL plaque at the Shubert is that it was funded by fans of the show--the same folks who compiled the The Longest Line book, IIRC. The Les Mis sidewalk medallion was paid for by the producers in honor of the 10th anniversary.

I guess for Cats, nobody's wanted to front the money for a plaque at the Winter Garden. It's a shame it doesn't have one, though.

Winston, that's obvious. It's theme park entertainment.

I read it as the same thing, Diva! "Cats" is a plague on the Broadway musical though, so not entirely inaccurate.

So you've never seen it? Then how do you form the opinion that it's bad?

P.S. Cannot is one word.

I was fortunate enough to be in the audience for the record breaking performance of CATS. I wanna say that yes, there was something presented for the theatre but I may be wrong. It truly was an electrifying evening!
