It was just posted 2 minutes ago. I knew the box office had dropped but I'm surprised they didn't hold out a little longer. I know they mentinoned that other producers were already eyeing the theater and I guess the advance sale was not great. Too bad.
My god. My god. I am speechless. Truly speechless. I am disgusted.

Wow, what a sad day for Broadway on September 3rd. DRS and Sweeney closing on the same day. This is SO sad...
How many threads have been created and deleted on this subject? This is a sad, sad day.
It had a nice run. It was a good show. It is sad but let's look forward for new beginnings
Did it recoup it's investment?

Sweeney and DRS closing on the same day. It did have a nice run and it was a fun show. Good luck to the cast and crew
I'm... in shock, really. I didn't expect it so soon.

wow, i didnt expect it so soon
i am very sad now...my spirits are suddenly dampened for the night
SWEENEY and DRS...all in one day
No it didn't recoup.
Well, it was a ball, it ws a blast and it had a good run.
I'm not sure if it recouped. Neither 42nd Street nor Thoroughly Modern Millie were able to recoup. Anyone have an actual answer?
It was a ball it was blast, and it's a shame it didn't last. But every chapter has to end you must agree.

September 3rd will be a very, very sad day.
Does anyone else think it's a bit funny and strange that it will have played exactly 666 performances?
I am so upset. I never got to see it.

i was just about to mention that!
scariness... and saddness
At least there's the tour, guys.
I'm a little shocked too. I didn't expect it to run forever, but at least hold out for a few more months.
And Millie and 42nd Street not recouping the investment has nothing to do with DRS recouping it or not.

DRS goes down as one of those "crowd-pleasers," like Millie and 42nd Street, that closed at a loss. It's recouped about 80%.
Is it sad that I'm on the verge of tears?
K22 i thought it was weird/funny what ever too. I was like hm intresting.

Not at all. If it makes you feel then your emotions are justified.
It is a bit surprising that it's closing and I did notice the 666 thing as well.
That will make for a very hectic day in NYC as there has been a lot of speculation that Inishmore might close that day as well.
It's too bad really. I suspect that is the likely venue for Curtains.
