re: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Closing 9/3

Not at all. If it makes you feel then your emotions are justified.

It is a bit surprising that it's closing and I did notice the 666 thing as well.

That will make for a very hectic day in NYC as there has been a lot of speculation that Inishmore might close that day as well.

It's too bad really. I suspect that is the likely venue for Curtains.

I am so depressed right now. I knew this was coming after Norbert/Jonathan/Greg left and espically after Lucie was injured, but I did not expect it this soon. I feel so sorry for the cast. I hope all of them (and espically Sherie and Sara) find other work soon. It's been fun, you dirty rotten guys!

Does this mean that Lucie is done with DRS? I know she's on medical leave but there's only two weeks left.

Did Richard Kind even start yet?

It will have a long and healthy life in regionals. The sadness to me isn't that the show didn't run longer, but that it ran as long as it did without recouping.

re: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Closing 9/3

I hope the show recoups with the coming tour. It's too bad that two great shows are closing the same day. Even though the 666 performances seems more fitting for Sweeney.
If Percy Blakeney were in Les Mis....

Percy: Sink me! If it isn't Javvurt!
Javert: Zsah-vair, it's pronounced Zsah-vair.
Pecry: But it's spelled J-A-V-E-R-T Javvurt.
Javert: Repeat after me Zsah...Zsah....
Percy: Oh! Zsa-Zsa! Like the Gabor sister! Well I personally have always prefered Eva.
Javert: (Looks for gun)

Ha, I'll be seeing it for the first time in December! Lucky me. Maybe I'll catch Sweeney too, didn't realise it was closing too.
The rain we knew is a thing of the past -
deep-delving, dark, deliberate you would say
browsing on spire and bogland; but today
our sky-blue slates are steaming in the sun,
our yachts tinkling and dancing in the bay
like racehorses. We contemplate at last
shining windows, a future forbidden to no one.

Sad that such a great show has to close. The circle of Broadway life goes on.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

re: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Closing 9/3

Is there a reason that this is closing?

just a money thing?

hmmm the paranoid part within me thinks that Sweeney and DRS closing so suddenly and on the same date is somehow related...

...but who knows. :)

I wish I could've seen it though. re: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Closing 9/3

This show is always going to be something special to me. I'm extremely sad to see it go... I definitely wasn't expecting it quite so soon. I was hoping it'd hold out at least another few months. re: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Closing 9/3
l love you without knowing how... or when... or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride.
I love you because I know no other way than this.

I posted the Variety review that mentioned it earlier but the police deleted it.

Wow. This seems really really out of the blue to me. I never expected it. I actually thought it was a joke at first. I will miss it. Very cute, fun show. I was really hoping to get to see Brian as well. It's too bad.

Its very sad when two very good shows close due to lack of support and the crappy Disney shows continue to thrive.

re: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Closing 9/3

There was an embargo on the Press until 7:00 tonight. Apparently not all the cast/crew had been notified of the closing. Craig just wanted to respect the producer's wishes. That's why the threads got deleted.

September 3 is my birthday too.

re: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Closing 9/3

Well my first thought was is the last show the same time as sweeney b/c I'm getting rid of that Sweeney ticket as fast as I can. DRS is at 3, Sweeney is at 7:30. Gah, emotional, emotional day. I think by the time Sweeney starts, I will be All Cried Out.

Once I realized that...wow. I know the closing was imminent, but didn't realize it would be so soon. At first I thought Christmas, but then I was hoping for even Thanksgiving.

I, uhh...do have tears in my eyes...so don't feel bad.

I'm...gonna stop now before I decide to start lighting candles...
