Disappearing Broadway Box Discounts

On Saturday morning I was looking at tickets on Broadway Box for an upcoming trip to NYC to see shows. I was pleasantly surprised to see that School of Rock was actually featured with like $50 off ticket prices advertised through June/July. I looked into buying them but didn't since not everything, like dates, are set in stone for my trip yet. I came back Sunday morning to get the prices again for my parents and the code and discount were no where to be found even when I went back to the telecharge page I was on the day before.

Essentially, I'm just wondering if this has happened to anyone before? I saw no signs that the deal wouldn't last through when the tickets were being sold or anything of that sort. I'm quite disappointed now, because I'll have to take School of Rock off my list of shows I'll be seeing since I can't afford full priced tickets to five shows on top of hotel, transport, food, etc.

Also try Goldstar, and occasionally The Skint.

I personally use the discount codes on playbill.com. They have a wide selection and frankly all of the discounts for all shows are pretty much the same. I had the same problem as you did with American Psycho last week using Broadway Box. Yes, tthey have become unreliable.

I have found TheaterMania to be the most reliable source for codes these days. They consistently have had ones I couldn't find elsewhere. Anyhow, I wonder if Broadway.com messing with Broadway Box's discount codes has anything to do with their own bottom line as a ticket broker.

Broadway Box is still the first site I look at. I had discount codes that I used for my tickets to Shuffle Along and She Loves Me.

I don't understand the calling of BroadwayBox "sketchy" or "unreliable".



In the fine print on all of the discounts on any discount ticket site (BBox, Playbill, Theatermania), they always have a disclaimer saying "This offer may be revoked or modified at any time without notice." or "Offer may be revoked at any time. All regular and discount prices subject to change at any time." or "Offer may be modified or revoked at any time without notice."



It's not the website's fault when a discount is pulled or it's expired or you didn't purchase by the sell-by date, etc.



And no, I don't work for BBox, Playbill, or Theatermania, but I did have to submit many discount codes to them when I worked for a theatrical marketing agency & we always had those disclaimers in the fine print. And yes, we pulled discounts before their deadline when tickets became sparse and we rather have sold them for full price than discount. Yes, people brought codes to box offices to not have it be accepted because we pulled the code.

That's got nothing to do with it. It's their relationship with Broadway.com, which most unsuspecting buyers don't realize is a ticket broker, that's been troubling.
