Disney on Broadway. . . What's next?

I think Mulan would be a great musical on Brodway. It has a really good story eventhough the movie was short. The only problem I see is that the music of Mulan is limited in that there aren't that many songs in the movie (Mulan only sings 2 songs I think). They could stretch it out and add to the score.

I always thought the Hercules music was one of the best and underrated Disney has made, but the story isn't that good. "Won't Say I'm in Love" is one of the best Disney ballads, in my opinion.

I think that'll only add to how great a stage production of Mulan would be; most of the score would be completely new, so it wouldn't just be a live action version of the movie. Plus, because it's not that the most well-known of the Disney movies, the stage version may even overshadow the movie.

I don't know how'd they stage all those fight scenes if they did Mulan. There are 4 or 5 songs, I think, and that's not enough, so a new score would be really cool.

I love the music from Hercules, but the story is all messed up- the actual story of Hercules is A LOT different (I'm not going to go into details). A stage version might be kind of cool, though.

For the close-up battles, they could borrow from the fight dancing of Chinese operas. For the epic shots, they could pull a Lion King and use massive puppets or something (a la TLK's stampede scene). It'll be cool!

I couldn't agree more on this one. I've always felt that Hunchback would be the best of their musicals to stage. Menken and Schwartz did an amazing job with this one.

yuuuuuuuuuuup. Fall '06. Fall '06. Fall '06.
I hope Adam sticks with it, and if not that he gets something else new and exciting. One day, I *will* ask him.

Apparently, one of the next projects is a musical based on the documentary, Spell Bound. About the National Spelling Bee.

Spellbound the musical? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

that movie worked on tooo many levels to become a stage play. oh no. one of the best documentaries turned into a musical with singing instead of spelling.

bad idea

I don't know that I'd really like Tarzan, but it could be worse... Hercules would be awesome! The muses were fun.

I hope Adam can do better than another Diseny musical. But he has time to spare, it's a two years away.
