I'd want to see it for nostalgic reasons. It was the very first movie I ever saw in the movie theater, so it holds a special place in my heart. I use to sing "Part of Your World" non-stop. In fact, Disney movies were my first introductions to musicals of any kind. (I live in a small Kentucky town that doesn't get into theatre)

JerseyGirl ... she looks perfect.

They should have Eden revive her Ariel days from working in the Disney park...

You TOTALLY got my hopes up....damn you!! lol jk!

Well the new songs written for Ursula (wasting away, all good things must end) are clearly written for a female....but I suppose they could change the key and give it to a man...but I think that wouldn't be the best idea....

CAN'T WAIT...I will be there when this opens...

and all that I could do because of you was talk of love...

Megan Mullaly for Ursula...What happened with that?
Kerry or Eden for Ariel since Ashley has 70% chance of Poppins. Of curse Kristin Chenoweth could be poppins

Akiva...I think you and I are the ONLY ones who realize how astounding Ramirez would be in the role.

Now, I could be way off here. But it just hit me today.

Laura Benanti as Ariel. Her voice is gorgeous and could do wonders with Ariels songs. I think she would be perfect.

Well, Harvey as Ursula would explain why she wants Ariel's voice...

Something tells me Disney would not adapt one of its classic animated musicals for Broadway and cast a man in drag as Ursula. As fun as it sounds to us, it doesn't fit their paying target ticket buyers' idea of suitable entertainment for children.

Foster, for one thing everyone's joking.

BUT, it is a well known fact that Ursula was inspired by Divine. Seriously, look it up.

Ursula doenst have to be white. A black Ursula would be hot!

The new songs for TLM - (to me at least) dont add a lot of new elements, just play off of the scenes that never had songs to begin with. - but I am not a TLM expert so some of these songs could have been cut from the films conception? I am not sure.

Ursula is given a number called "Wasting Away" the Eels adding as Back-Up.

Skuttle has a song with a seagull chorus called "Human Stuff." He is also given a song called "Posituvity" which plays on his real lack of human knowledge. Its cute.. and some great word play... Both are up beat - side-step kinda numbers.

Triton is given a song called "That World Above" warning Ariel of the dangers in the human world.

Eric has a song about "Her Voice" -pretty self explanitory.

The Eels have a song called "Sweet Child"... luring Ariel to Ursula.

Some of the songs melodys are based on TLMs original score...
for example when Ariel is Human (in the movie) she has a sweeping underscore which plays in the palace and in her room.. well that melody has been turned into "my wildest dreams" where Ariel sings about her new life as a human.

There is a song called "If Only" where Ariel sings to Eric however Eric hears nothing because (obviously) she cant talk.
I am not sure the staging of this scene. I assume Eric is just obliviant to her singing, an not that her vocals are pre-recorded. Eric adds vocals hear aswell. -Its a sweet song.

A reprise of "If Only" is sung by Sebastian.. saying If Eric only knew she was Ariel the girls who sings.

The "Poor Unfortunate Souls- reprise" is sung by Ursula right before turns into a human. - this is my favorite scene in the movie because i love Urusula's human character design. (I wonder if two actresses will play hUrsula.)

"All Good things Must End" is also song Urusla to Ariel about her time being through... so obviously you can see how big a part Urusula has in this rendition.

The Finale song... is sung by Ariel (in mermaid form) and wants to be with Eric.

I beleive she becomes human... where a reprise of "Part of your world is song"

The songs seem to mesh well with the songs we all know "Kiss the Girl" "Under the Sea."

These songs are all very Disney... and remind me of a lot of "Beauty and the Beast" - especially the song "Something There."

"Zac is sweet as can be. He's very much just a sweet kid from California who happens to have a face that looks like it was drawn by Michelangelo, (if Michelangelo did anime)."
-Adam Shankman.

"I haven't left this building since Windows 3.1!"

"Celebrating a birthday this week: Rene Descartes is 412! Do you know who he is? Then why are you watching this show? You could probably get into college and even get one of those job things. As for the rest of us; Amanda Bynes is 22! Yay!"
-E!'s "The Soup"

"Wasting Away"
"All Good Things Must End"

They even SOUND like Ursula's songs.

Um, Disney isn't going to have Ursula played in drag. The Christian Coalition would boycott faster than you can say Mickey Mouse.

The idea of Sara Ramirez, as some have suggested, really caught on with me. We know she can pull of the provocative, human Ursula (Vanessa) and I imagine that she would pull out all the stops with the seawitch herself. She could be simply amazing!

thanks mateo! I am actually excited about seeing this. I think it will be good, musically, and staging, well, whoever does it, good luck!

Maybe they can write into Sara's contract that she doesn't have to show up, but she'll still win a Tony Award. It worked for Spamalot.

I have always said I think Eartha Kitt should play this part. It is obvious Disney can run this show FOREVER with or without celebrities.

I am so so sorry.
They can only cast one person. The only one who can play her as she is. The talented and wonderful and campy and hysterical and crass and crazy and fabulous...
