I had heard lots about possibly bringing this to life, in Vegas maybe, but have heard nothing for a long time. Does anyone have any info on if Aladdin, Jasmine, Abu and the Genie will be on the Broadway stage?
I'm know MERMAID is in workshops.

Posted: 8/1/06 at 10:31amThere was a fun version that was playing in Disneyland the last time I was there. not sure if it's still playing or not, but it wasn't bad (for a 30 minute show).

I saw Pochahontas, Beauty And The Beast, The Lion King and Aladin in productions like that back in like 1999. (Jasmine kissed me! Don't ask why because I don't know!)
P.S. Sorry if I spelled anything wrong!

Posted: 8/1/06 at 10:42amThe B&B at Disney World was horrendous. At least Hunchback was inventive and interesting. In regards to your question, I remember seeing a notable playwright attached to writing a book for a full stage version of Aladdin. I think i read it on Playbill.com, but this was a while ago.

Posted: 8/2/06 at 1:28amAladdin is still playing at Disney's California Adventures. It is a cheesy show, but it is fun and adults get the jokes and kids like the rest. The show runs 40 minutes and does have some really good performers and I know that some have gone onto Broadway...I hope that they don't get rid of that show in DCA because I love going to see it.

Posted: 8/2/06 at 1:37amThe best part about the show at Disney's California Adventure is the flying carpet scene. Too bad it flies over mid-orchestra so the front rows have to turn back to see it... And the people right under it can't see anything except the bottom. The rest of the show was okay, I guess. Oh, and I liked Genie part where all these Genies come down off of a staircase that's lit up in neon and such.

Posted: 8/2/06 at 8:55amMy high school, for the yearly school spirit skits, are doing a Disney theme. My class picked Aladdin. I'm already in the planning stages and it's looking pretty goood. Sorry if this is a little off-topic.

Posted: 8/2/06 at 9:54amThe Aladdin at Great Adventure/Disneyland is scheduled to run there for at least three more years. There was talk about also opening it at Disney World in Orlando and then expanding it for Broadway, but those plans have at this point been scrapped.

Posted: 10/30/06 at 1:02pmI HATE theme park shows. I think Aladdun has much more potential than a teeny prod (in comparison to Broadway)!!! MAKE A REAL ONE!!!! It wouold be just fab. I could really see Norbert Leo Butz as the genie in a few years!!!!!!!!

Menken wrote a new song for Jasmine to sing in the Disney stage version, "To Be Free".
I personally think it might be a better property than "The Little Mermaid" to bring to Broadway.
