Just curious. Worked very well with "Ragtime" in January and was hoping "Next To Normal" might work the same way when I'm down in September.

Next to Normal is a mixed bag. Sometimes they offer them, sometimes they don't. Usually not at peak periods when the show is selling very well, but with the attendance lately, and especially in September after the summer dropoff, it seems quite likely they'd be offered :)

What are these "lottery loser" tickets?

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

They are usually partial view seats offered for $30-$40 after lottery.

I got the Next to Normal lotto loser tickets for $36.50 and they were orchestra, like 9 rows back on the side. There were a lot of empty seats so my friend and I ended up moving to 4th row center.

It depends on where you are in the loser lottery line. They usually try to fill the boxes first but they do offer side orchestra, too.

St. James. I visited backstage after the show on Thursday. :)

The Simon doesn't have a balcony.

Try to avoid left box if you can at the St. James- with the way American Idiot is staged a lot of moments happen on that side of the stage that are completely obstructed from the box. I've heard right box is much better, especially if you're a little farther back in the box. But really, the best you can hope for is the partial view side orchestra seats- they are fantastic, you only miss a couple of very minor things and they are usually within the first 10 rows.

I sat in the front of the right box, and had to lean over the edge to see really any of stage left. I'm sure further back in the box you would have been able to see everything fine. I only missed Tunny's action and the entrances via the stairs without adjusting

I really want to try the Next to Normal lottery next Monday or Tuesday. I've never done it before. Do you think it's smarter to buy the $41.50 seats than to risk it (meaning are potential lotto-loser tickets worse than the last row?)? Any advice would be appreciated. Is it 50% off at TKTS or less?

Also, does anyone know how much Billy Elliot is offered for at TKTS (when it's there)?

The $41.50's I've heard aren't bad neither are the partial view's. It all depends if u want a full view of the show or do u not mind being off to the side. I've had the $40 lotto losers a couple times n they aren't bad. The last row sells out in advance

On Friday, I got the Lotto looser tickets and was in the 5th row against the wall. Not the best view. A speaker cut off my view of Natalie playing the piano during "Everything Else". We then moved to the second row and nothing was obstructed.

N2N at tkts is going to run around $65 with taxes and fees.

"If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknowledge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don't want to do it." -Stephen Colbert
