Lizzie...Broadway series ones, and some touring. The venue I never has the actors come out to sign...the only actor that ever came out to sign anything was James Barbour, in Camelot.
Go figure, uh?
What do they do, go out the front? Either you're doing it wrong or the actors have been warned of area weirdos.

No. Actually it is a very elegant venue, no weirdos within premises.
The actors have protected parking (high fenced area and gated) and it is located in the back of the theater. Once the show is over, they just exit through the back, and, of course, no patrons (or I should say, those with no "connections") can go there...
I didn't want to start a new thread for this, but I was just over at PlaybillStore.com (Hi, my name is Glitter and Be Gay, and I am a Broadway merchandise addict) and I saw that they have just introduced what they are calling the Universal Playbill Binder. It's the exact same archival quality binder as their Ultimate Binder, but it fits Playbills from ALL eras.
I thought that those of you who have Playbill collections like mine that include the older, larger Playbills and have been wishing for they would come out with a binder to fit these would like to know.
I bought four. I really don't have a lot of money to spare, but my older Playbills are deteriorating badly and these will save them from getting worse.

I have a pile of 20-something playbills on my shelf and someo f them are spread out. I used to have a collection of them when I was in elementary school including ones from shows my parents had seen but when I brought them to school for show and tell I lost it =( so all of my playbills are from the past 5 years.

I keep and cherish all of mine. I hate when people leave them on the floor at the theatre or throw them in the garbage.
I keep all of my playbills in a box along with the programs from every other production I've seen. They're starting to spill out everywhere haha, I should probably get a second box.
Yes! I could never bear to part with them! Some are signed, some not, and I keep them all in a binder that I got from Playbill.com made especially to hold them.

Back in the days of LP records, I always put the Playbills and souvenir programs in the sleeve of the album. I also put reviews of the shows in there.
Since the days of CD that are too small to hold programs, I keep them in a box next to my CD racks.

I only keep the playbill from the first time I see a show. (or if I get them signed)

Yes, I keep mine on a bookshelf. I must have 40 or so. The very first Bway show I ever saw was My One and Only wednesday of Thanksgiving week, 1983. Original Cast. (I was 13.) We also saw Cats with Betty Buckley and the original Cast. Nine with Sergio Franchi and Brighton Beach Memoirs with Fisher Stephens and Elizabeth Franz who won a tony a few years ago for Death of a salesman. I still have those Playbills. As I recall the Marriott Marquis was being built and you had to go through all the construction to get to the 46th Street Theater to see Nine. And I remember Twiggy and Tommy Tune doing that amazing barefoot tap dance in a trauff of water. And who could forget Anita Morris doing A Call From the Vatican!? As a friend of mine said, "Once you saw Anita Morris perform that number, you had been HAD by Anita Morris, if you get what I mean!"
I keep mine. I need to get them organized...right now they're in various piles around the apartment. My signed ones are usually kept together ~ some are in plaxiglass frames on the wall.
As for tickets, I started the year keeping them in an envelope so I'd have them all at the end, but I managed to misplace the envelope for a while, so I know I've lost a few during that period. Not sure what I was going to do with them...make art maybe? LOL.
I live in a fairly small apartment, so sadly moving and space issues forced me to abandon saving every playbill. But I do save every ticket and have a big bulletin board for them. However, once I hit the local theater scene in Boston, I ran out of room. I need to buy another bulletin board, but until I do, the tickets are all stored in a envelope.
I also have a friend who buys a magnet from each show he sees to put on his fridge. He is running out of space, but it is quite the conversation starter when you walk into his kitchen :).
