Hi gang,

Since the show has been running in London and here for a few weeks, does anyone know if it's "frozen", or close to being? It has a long preview period which surprised me. It seems as if the long preview periods are for newer shows.

Well, even if it's not I'm going on Friday and I can't see it changing very much.

Thanks!

I'm sure they're still making tweaks. They just wrapped up their second week of previews. Save for two of the supporting leads, all of the cast is new and they have four girls rotating in the title role. I suspect the long preview period is to allow all the girls to have sufficient time to perform the role and get comfortabel doing it before officially opening the show. It makes absolute sense that they have a preview period this long for that reason alone. Also, they may be slightly tweaking to accommodate American audiences (and I know orchestrations have been slightly altered). So no, I suspect the show is not frozen yet.

Thanks MrMusic...I've heard that the accents are still too heavy, so I'm hoping they lighten them up a little.

other than changing some Brit slang to American slang, i.e wind to gas, probably nothing is going to drastically change. Too bad 2 numbers that need to go probably wont,

What two numbers do you think need to go?

I read that Tim Minchin is "thinning out" a few of the more complicated lyrics, and am interested if anyone has more information.

The only songs I didn't like on the soundtrack, Loud, and Telly, I absolutely loved in the show. Some of the lyrics, especially in Miracle, get lost so Im glad Tim is thinning them. While I understand the words cause of the soundtrack, it was very hard to interpret.

There's already a soundtrack?! I didn't realize there's a movie of this musical...

I am sorry. But what a boring and dull show. You are all falling into the hoopla and manufactured buzz.

Oh yes, the picture is just amazing.

Give up. Actors and directors are now referring to cast recordings as "soundtracks" (I'm looking at you Diane Paulus and Alec Baldwin. PS Alec, I think I have one of your socks.) The war has been lost.

Yes, she fell into the Hudson and it's still so damn cold in Manhattan she froze.

It's frozen. The creative team is gone and the assistants are just cleaning it up now.

I don't think it's frozen. A friend told me that the entire team, apart from Peter Darling who's in London doing "charlie and the chocolate factory", are still to be seen at the theatre. So I would guess, "Not Frozen."
When I saw the show, the accents were very good and certainly not too heavy though I've only seen one Matilda. To my non-techie ear, the sound was a little heavy on echo which would affect understanding the accents. The Billy Elliot Geordie accent on Broadway was heavier than this and I had no problems with that.

DAME - unlike the other poster, i don't like the way you speak. You didn't like the show. Fair enough. However, you arrogance in assuming intelligent people on this board like the show only because of the hype,is quite breathtaking.

I like the show (no more than that) - not as much as some but wouldn't presume to condescend to telling people the only reason they are raving about it is because of the "hoopla". Can't you just accept that some people enjoy things you don't?

Doubtful.
