I don't know what she's doing, but I saw her in Les Mis and she was fantastic. One of the best in the show.

I do too. I'd been trying to follow her for a while, but she hadn't really done very much I think.

I saw her as Ponine in SF a few years back before the tour took off to China. She was wonderful, one of my favorites. I remember reading somewhere here that she played Mary in JCS recently...but I don't remember how recently. Wish I could have seen that.

She was just in the NAMT reading of Sunfish the Musical. Perfectly cast and did an amazing job - what a beautiful voice and presence that woman has on her! I hope Sunfish makes its way to Broadway and brings Ma-Anne with it!

She was the best Eponine I'd ever seen and I'm hard to please when it comes to that role (mainly because I'm not fond of it). Good to hear she's been up to fun things! :)

On a personal note, I did see her visiting the Les Miz tour last year in San Francisco. She'd brought her new baby (as well as her older son, Niko).

Link goes to a thread about the JCS production she was in.

She also was Lea Salonga's understudy in Flower Drum Song... and went on for a few performances and was sensational.
Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.

Let's not forget that she was also the original KIM in the Canadian production of Miss Saigon, also doing the show in Australia, London, and regional theatres... she has a beautiful voice (although a weird vebrato that sometimes gets on my nerves)... she was also the alternate Betrande in the second version of Martin Guerre in London... if you see the making of Miss Saigon Canada, there's great footage of her rehearsing and performing as well as the moment she was told she got the part

I can't find that article where it said she was so overwhelmed by the publicity in Toronto that she only agreed to do Saigon in Sydney under the condition she got minimal publicity (it all went to Joanna Ampil instead). Any of you know what I'm talking about? I know I read it online a few years ago.

Ah well, here's something else to munch on.

Thanks to everyone who has replyed so far. It does sound like she has been busy. What does NAMT stand for? I did hear a rumor, some time ago, that she did get married. LizzieCurry, I have read that article too, I especailly loved reading her reaction to winning the role of Kim in "Miss Saigon." If anyone here does, by chance, see Ma-Anne sometime soon please ask her about the CD she was planning.

This show was incredible, did anyone else see it? Ma-Anne was so beautiful and sang her heart out. Does anyone know what's happening next with Sunfish? I have some friends who said it was kinda like Once On This Island, but even more unique and fun. ANDGreat songs.

Lizzie - I have to laugh at your comment about Eponine.

I think I saw her three times on tour - twice in the same week.

Quite different than Diana Kaarina, if I remember. I did not like one of the Fantine's I saw on the tour, however. And that saddened me very much. Also, one of the Javert's seemed bored during the suicide. I know it's no gold lame two-step, but come one!

I saw her in both Les Miz and Saigon. I was REALLY impressed with her Kim- one of, if not, my favorite. I was a little underwhelmed with her Eponine though (however, I do then to be a tough critic of Les Miz- I own 20 different foregin cast recordings and have seen the show like 16 or 17 times). I saw a clip of a press reel when she was doing the role in South Africa and loved her voice, so I may have just caught an off performance of her live. On another note, did anyone see her in West Side Story a few years back? I remember reading some reviews of her that were pretty good- I might have actually enjoyed the show if she was in it :).

I just came across that picture, Lizzie, while trying to find out more infomation about this production of "Aladdin." I should have checked this thread earlier. I am glad there is a picture of Ma-Anne and Stephen in this show, even if it is black and white.

The first time i saw her on Toronto's stage singing Sun and Moon, Ma-Anne took my breath away. I never got the chance to see her on stage doing Les Mis (my loss) but have heard her sing On My Own (just randomly) and she really does a lovely job at it. I did see her on stage doing West Side Story oddly enough.

Heads up, if you want to see her on stage again, she'll be doing a small intimate concert on August 25/07 in Toronto.
