Surprised nobody else posted this yet. I just watched Carrie Underwood's Christmas Special and Dolly Parton said she's busy working on a musical of her life and would like Kristin to star in it.
I hope she stagedoors.

Hmm. Miss Dolly must read this Message Board as I made the following post about a year ago: November 28, 2008.
Kristin was born to play Dolly Parton in a biopic about the country superstar. Whenever this happens it'll be the project that finally singles her out from the crowd.
Until then... its bit parts in crap. Period.

I'm picturing Megan Hilty watching this show and being a little PO'd when said Dolly said she wants Kristin to play her. Sort of a slap in the face.
I love Kristin, and maybe she needs the money/exposure, but I thought her contribution last night on this show was "beneath" her. And why on earth did she not have a solo at the end during the Christmas songs?????
Carrie Underwood - don't expect her on Broadway like other AI folk. Great voice, beautiful girl, but no acting ability that I detected.

Broadway is where American Idol folk end up when their recording careers go south. There is no chance of that happening to Carrie Underwood anytime soon and even if it did it's not like she would be the first person working on Broadway with no detectable acting ability.
Why is this being called a biopic? Isn't that a misuse of the term? Isn't a biopic a biographical film?

To be honest, I hope with the biopic Dolly actually shows the grit of her life similar to Walk The Line, Coal Miners Daughter instead of creating some candy coated Dollyfied Lifetime movie extravanganza.
Dolly dealt with intense poverty, a bipolar mom, loss of siblings, true sadness and depression, several lost pregnancies and suicidal thoughts. I hope she adds some depth to this project and gives Cheno some Oscar worthy moments.

Posted: 12/8/09 at 8:47pmCheno is poised on the line between being a Bernadette Peters and a Charles Nelson Reilly- she's either going to become a big star in film, television, theater and music like she wants to be, or become a "familiar face" who pops up in mostly thankless things flitting between the four mediums, being memorable but never the main attraction.
