Maybe in the context of the play, but not on live TV. I doubt that appearance sold one ticket.

Both, I would imagine. Dave just had no clue that the CAST RECORDING for the musical isn't out yet. I really like "Backwoods Barbie". I like the whole theme of "I might look artificial, but where it counts I'm real". Also it's cool that they're able to use Dolly to advertise the show on talk shows and stuff. They might actually sell more tickets that way.

It's pretty mezzo-mezzo both on its own and in context of a show. This score just isn't anything to write home about.

Well, I have seen the show and it's phenomenal. Also, Allison can sing as well as the other girls.

"Well, I have seen the show and it's phenomenal. Also, Allison can sing as well as the other girls."

That comment is an insult to those "other girls" ( and others in the business) who have professionally trained. Ms. Janney herself said she is not a trained singer.

I wasn't saying "as well" meaning just as good, I meant "in addition too". Now, until you see it live (assuming you didn't) you are in no place to tell me Allison can't sing.

I just have to ask- is Dolly's "rhyme scheme" as pathetic throughout the whole show as it is in that clip of "Backwoods Barbie"? I just want to be prepared before I see the show to endure cringe-worthy rhymes, if this is the case. Yes, I realize aiming solely for rhyme is second fiddle to the content of the song, but "worth/hurts, believe/deep, heels/real" is just not settling well with me (ok, it's actually irking me to no end). I've always been a fan of Dolly, but it will disappoint and annoy me to hear a score filled with things like "breasts/dress, uncrossed/boss, hooters/losers"...

...And so, there I was at the stage door for "Equus". The enthused avalanche of "Harry Potter" fans was literally pushing me into the barricades. As I was thrust face-first into Daniel Radcliffe's hat, I suddenly felt the thumb of a lanky gentleman behind me pressing firmly into my back. It was then that I realized that both of his hands had Playbills, and that both arms were outstretched in front of me...
