Patti LuPone will be performing on The View tomorrow morning. I hope it will be an interview and performance. Anyone know what she will be performing? I think she should do SOME PEOPLE.
Don't miss it.

I wish I could see it.
"Some People" would be nice, but I think she could get away with "Everything's Coming Up Roses." It was stronger than "Some People" when I saw it.

Posted: 6/4/08 at 8:18pmYeah. But I want her to save "Everything's Coming Up Roses" until the Tonys. I hope she will perform it there.

It's actually illegal in the United States to perform Rose's Turn before noon.
Edited for not thinking

Posted: 6/4/08 at 8:22pmYeah but they would have to cut ROSE'S TURN down to like 3 minutes. And that would suck big time.

well then good thing The View is at 11, ahmelie.
I'm actually looking forward more to an interview with her than her performance.

Posted: 6/4/08 at 8:38pmbut The View LOVES opinionated middle aged ladies! she's the perfect candidate for an interview.

I don't care where, but her "Rose's Turn" absolutely must end up on record.
The whole production should, but that's something that really should.

when Gypsy closes, she should get her own talk show.

Posted: 6/4/08 at 10:12pmeven though we all want to see her do Rose's Turn, I think it's a little heavy for "the view's" audience, especially considering the vast majority don't know what Gypsy even is. "You'll Never Get Away From Me' would probably get a better response, but watevs.

- Yeah but that wouldn't be as good without Boyd. Some People is the most obvious choice for tomorrow.

Posted: 6/5/08 at 12:06amAs much as I loved her Rose's Turn live, I don't think I'd want to see it on tv. It's just so much more powerful within the context of the show. Rose's Turn is more about the emotion than Together Where Ever We Go, or Some People which are nicely performed out of the context of the show. I feel like people would misinterpret Rose's Turn and think it's just a crazy woman yelling on stage when there really is so much more behind it.

...is Patti's version transposed down a half step?
I thought she was the queen of the "if you can't sing it in the original key, don't sing it at all?" mentality...

Yes. she is a half step down from the vocal score. She is using Tyne Daly's keys. And she has said these keys are the reason the songs are not demanding for her and she is able to keep her voice strong.
A half step is not a big deal. Angela Lansbury sang it drastically lower.
