Posted: 6/5/08 at 2:53pmNo surprise! She sang fast and loud; nothing more. The lyrics went by in a blur. It appears, Ms. LuPone didn't give any thought to what the song is about or what she's singing. In this age of American Idol, no wonder people think Patti LuPone is great.

QUESTIONS:
1.) How did her rendition compare the show/sampler CD? Did she do the patter in the middle? Who said, "You ain't gettin 88 cents..."
2.) Did she do a proper interview sitting down or only chat from wherever she performed?
3.) Were all 5 View ladies there?
4.) Did they discuss Evita? Sunset Blvd? Life Goes On? Other LuPone roles?
5.) Did they discuss Andrew Lloyd Webber? Bernadette? Anything dramatic?
6.) Did they rave about Patti/her performance? Did anyone say that she was going to win/should win the Tony?
7.) What did she wear?

3. They were all there and talking at once.

I didn't seen this morning's performance, but Arthur Laurents did the "88 cents" line on the sampler CD, correct?

Dearest, how can this be so? You were dead, you know. - Candide
Oh my god, this show has everything! Half naked guys and girl on girl action! - [title of show]

Posted: 6/5/08 at 3:44pmher performance was great! but i was a bit distracted by what she was wearing...but I'm glad that they actually talked to her before she performed. Usually the people perform, and Whoopi talks to them for about ten seconds.

I did not think her outfit was that bad. Actually the top was fine, it just got a little crazy towards the bottom.

Posted: 6/5/08 at 6:23pmI've given up on Patti looking 100% adorable all the time. so far, her best look of the season was her Hello My Name is Patti shirt. Patti's silly outfits are just "Patti being Patti".

Posted: 6/5/08 at 8:25pmI just have to say, I like her, and she's obviously very talented, but her voice really grates on my nerves at times. I didn't think the performance on The View was anything that should be considered great. It's hard to really enjoy a performance when several of the notes send bristles thru my veins. Just my opinion.....I'm sure not a popular one.

Posted: 6/5/08 at 9:27pmLOL. I love how "loud" is suppose to be an insult to Patti. The original Rose was KNOWN for being loud. That was her trademark. Though her diction was much better.

Yes, she could have slowed down a bit, and her middle diction could have been better, but it was just a performance on a TV show... it would have been wierd if she fully went into character... no wonder in this age of American Idol, ignorance, and immediate jumps to snarkiness in hopes to impress others, someone wouldn't understand nuances in performance for different media.
and the white... thing? she could have done better... we're all talking about it though, so... maybe she did what she wanted. :)
