I haven't seen Doubt, but The Pillowman is absolutely amazing.
Both plays are terrific, but I prefer The Pillowman.
Pillowman, both are amazing but Pillowman literally left me speechless.

Pillowman without a doubt.

I'd say Pillowman. Not only do I think that it's a better play, but it's only running a few more weeks, while Doubt will be around for years.
I've seen the Pillowman and read DOUBT. Love both, but I suggest Pillowman because it's closing. 17 perfs left.
See The Pillowman! It's closing and it's a wonderful show, it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Doubt is also a great play, but it will be around for a little while longer. ^__^

Wow.
So many for THE PILLOWMAN.
I wish I could see this again...
lol I"ll put my neck on the chopping block and say Doubt, I just liked it better, can't really explain why.
The Pillowman. I adore this play. I think it's absolutely brilliant, and virtually flawless (well, to me it is flawless, I can't think of one thing I'd change about it.) I thought Doubt was okay but The Pillowman is far superior.
Okay, Im guessing the overall consensus is Pillowman LOL...which would you say deserved the Pulitzer?
The Pulitzer is only for American authors. McDonagh is Irish, so Pillowman wasn't eligible. There's also a preference for works dealing with American culture in some way; I remember a minor brouhaha over I Am My Own Wife's victory last year. I think Caroline should have won that time around.
I saw both and also preferred Pillowman. Doubt was a neat and tidy little exercise in audience manipulation, extremely well executed but not particularly original and so transparent. Pillowman was big and challenging and original and exciting. And, though Charlie Isherwood missed it, it was in fact about something, it just wasn't going to give it to you in a PowerPoint outline like Doubt did. Doubt's easy accessibility is a virtue that has given it great popularity, but I like a play that I have to work to take apart, not one that is so obvious (I liked Woolf a lot as well).
