Halle was way better in Dorothy Dandridge than Monster's Ball, IMHO.

Kimberly Elise, please! Although, I think she comes off younger than her 40 years on screen.

I think Marianne Jean-Baptiste would be fantastic in this role.

Because it's integral to the plot. The boy in question is the only black student in the school.

For everyone's sake, Ivan "suck puppet" Wonderful's comments should be ignored and dismissed.

Why Ray? My opinions are just as valid as anyone elses.

Ivan: Your opinions aren't really opinions they are just inconsistent thoughts.
I know she is a little young for the role but I really think Thandie Newton could do it.

Thandie Newton is 35, they can age her 5 years
Plus even if she had her son when she was 20 or 21 it would not be that weird in the 1960's.

I'd like to see someone a little rougher in the role. MRs. Muller has to be able to stand up to Sister Aloysius. I think Angela Bassett is perfect. She was the first one I thought of (especially with names like Streep and Hoffman).
I would NOT like to see Queen Latifah. She's talented but I don't think she's right.

Most definitely Angela Bassett. She's fantastic, versatile, and would be perfect for the part.
Alfre Woodard would be good, but I think Bassett would be better.

I HATE that they're showing the boy on screen! Part of the reason we "doubt" as an audience, is that we don't have all the pieces of the puzzle in front of us.
It could seriously hurt the impact of the film. It's like showing us the big white rabbit in Harvey. The story doesn't work if you actually see him and know him. (They actually tried that out of town with Harvey and nearly closed the show when it wasn't working. They ultimately removed the white rabbit entirely, left it to the audience's imagination, left the rest of the play exactly as written, and Chase took home a Pulitzer for a play that almost didn't make it to New York.)
This sucks!
As for Mrs. Muller --- Bassett is my top choice, especially locking horns with Streep.

Do you know if they're going to show Donald in shots just to see what he looks like, or will there be scenes with him interacting with the Priest or the Nuns?
If it's just the former, then I think it could still work. The latter, however, would be a disaster.

I think it will be a challenge to show the boy and keep the 'doubt', but I wouldn't say it can't be done.
I would prefer a younger actress to Bassett. I had suggested Chandra Wilson in a prior thread, and I still think she's the best choice.

If Laura Michelle Kelly can play the Beggar Woman, then Raven Simone can play Mrs. Muller.

I love the idea of Angela Bassett, Marianne Jean-Baptiste or Viola Davis. Kerry Washington, Sanaa Lathan, Jada Pinkett all read a little too young. Even Kimberly Elise and Thandie Newton read young (although Thandie acted the hell outta "John Q". When she got on that phone and told Denzel "DO SOMETHING!", I almost gave that boy MY heart). Alfre Woodard would read a little too old ( that might be because I've seen her play Sanaa Lathan's mother twice). And keep Halle Berry away from this role.

Kimberly Elise is a supremely underrated actress, but so are most of the actresses in this thread, but that's a whole different can of worms entirely...
