On Playbill .com, the grosses were up to 65 %. For this show, with the lethal reviews it received , this has to be a miracle.
It appears favorable word of mouth may be kicking in. I hope so
I doubt it. I have no idea what else could have made these sales leap so far! Maybe youre right.

That's not grosses; that's capacity. Their grosses were only $319,959, which is definitely not enough to keep such a technically complicated show running.
However, we have to take into account that the producer of their show has a history of not particularly caring when his shows are hemorraghing money.
As for why sales went up- maybe the early fall slump is starting to end in general. There's probably tons of discounts.

It has a small nut & a backer that has more $$ than God & is willing to spend it to keep it running

It has a small nut? With all those flying effects? Huh. Didn't know that. Must be the teeny-weeny orchestra.
It's not a miracle the show's just not THAT bad. Besides, critics don't have much say over the success of a show anymore, and it kills them. The general audience doesn't pay attention to that stuff ... so the reviewers feel that they have to be "lethal" just to get SOMEONE to pick up a paper... No one, except parents of cast members, would by a newspaper if the reviews were all cute raves...
I hope it keeps running for a bit longer, would really like to see this one.

Actually, I think the critics were more bored than really furious about Dracula.
I assure you all, it will be here for much longer. Right now, the producers are sitting back in their living rooms without the slightest care about these week by week box office reults like some of us are. These producers are not like others. Get ready for the show to have a nice run.

Wouldn't it make sense that they are keeping it open to get through Halloween at least?
Also, lots of foreign producers and their scouts are coming to see it lately to see if they want to produce it in their countries - for example, one producer from South Korea loved it and wanted to mount a production in Seoul or Pusan.
It has a small nut as it is in a not to desirable theater & only 9 pieces in the orchestra ( although it sounds like more ). It does not have big nut like say 42 nd Street

Dancinfan is right on the money, according to Riedel at least. The whole idea of Dracula (and the other Wildhorns, barring The Civil War) is supposedly to use Broadway as a prestigious platform to launch international productions. Updated On: 10/18/04 at 07:43 PM
honestly, I thought it sounded exactly like a nine-piece orchestra....synth-pop Wildhorn. Which isn't inherently a bad thing!

Reidel reminds me of a goody two shoes @ school who wound up getting the stuffing knocked out of him by other students. One can hope

It's always wise to take what Riedel says with a grain of salt, but with a story as, well...unscandalous as that, I tend to believe him.

Like I said, the story isn't that scandalous. It's kind of blah. So I'm less likely to attribute it to his ego.
I liked Dracula very much. I hope it runs a lot longer than expected. I would see it again!!!!!!!
To CapnKid
I know about Reidel getting whacked. It should be dome repeatedly in my opinion
Wow, that's the best it's been the entire run, I think!
