WiCkEDrOcKS, you clearly haven't seen ADDING MACHINE.
1) Despite the fact that she's the only decent aspect of "The Little Mermaid- the Musical", it's absurd that Sierra Boggess received the nomination over Kerry Butler.
2) It's a crime that Patrick Stewart was not nominated for his nuanced and fresh performance in "Macbeth."
3) "Young Frankenstein" received way more recognition than it possibly deserves.
I hope the Tony nomination committee gets it right.
I love Sierra and I absolutely love The Little Mermaid, but how in the world did she get that nomination over Kerry???!!!!!!!!!!!!!
**not happy**
Lots of nominations for A Catered Affair.
I do have a question --
If there is a single performer who the Drama Desk wishes to nominate for their performance, would they NOT recognize that play for 'Best Ensemble'? (since what I'm getting from all the posts is that one cancels out the other)
I'm thinking specifically of Conleth Hill, and wondering if that could be part of the reason for no 'Ensemble' recognition for Seafarer?
(Or, as WBaF said, maybe they just didn't like the WHOLE ensemble)
Thanks for any and all insights -- I'm just trying hard to learn :~)
I'm so confused as to why Kerry Butler didn't get a nomination. I just don't understand it. I honestly don't. That's just weird to me.
And I hate that only Mary Testa got an odd. Oh, how I wish the Tony committee would nominate them together in one slot. I just don't see how you can give Testa a nod over Hoffman. They're a dinamic duo.
Although, good for Sierra.
Too bad about Leighann Larkin-- but I really think she could have a shot at a Tony nod. No, Sherie Rene Scott. Oh, well. This featured actress category is one veryyy interesting little battle. It seems as though the only real locks are Kritzer and Benanti. We'll see!
