I'm seeing TAKE ME OUT this weekend here in San Diego. A dream cast would definitely include Charlie Hunnam.

Folks, behave yourselves!
The truly beautiful should be lawfully restricted from wearing clothing; and the truly butt-ugly should be lawfully mandated from going naked.

I am not in the business, but after seeing the show, I had a question. Does the creative staff consider the actors' physical attributes before offering the roles? It just seemed to me that every actor in the show was considerably well built, if you get my drift. Was that a requirement for hiring them for the roles they got?
I know, stupid question!

I dunno... Joe Mantello has a history of casting gorgeous men who get naked in his plays and movies...

Ok, so where is the nakedness in Wicked, huh? I could have used some Taye nudity...

I didn't say there's nudity in ALL his stuff. and wicked is a musical not a play so shush..

I know for THE FULL MONTY that getting naked for the audition was not a requirement and, in fact, the first time they got all the way naked was the final dress rehearsal, but I think that was the decision of Jack O'Brian and that it didn't matter anyway because he wanted just regular joes getting up and doing a trip tease. But for TAKE ME OUT, they're all athletes so I'd imagine there is some kind of physical requirents that need to be met, weather on paper or otherwise... and I have a feeling Joe Mantello gets a kick out of that part...

If you'd seen the show on Broadway, you'd know that getting naked and checking out the physical attributes wasn't a requirement. Daniel Sunjata and Shane McRae were gorgeous men but the others weren't anything special, physically speaking. This thread is kind of ridiculous, IMO. We're talking about a Tony award winning play which is beautifully written, and was wonderfully acted. The main attraction wasn't the fact that the actors were naked for part of the show.

HOWEVER:
When I saw it on Broadway with Frederick Weller, i had a particular question. His unkempt pubic region...was it a conscious choice, as his character was a rather slovenly type, or just him. Most of the other actors were trimmed to within an inch of their.........

Erin, I have to disagree. I know alot of guys, and women for that matter, who said the only reason they bought tickets initially was because they heard there were long scenes with full frontal. I don't think the producers would argue that that was one of many selling points of the show. Otherwise, it would have been very easy to have a tiled half wall so you'd still be in the showers, but only see the guys naked from the waist up. The full frontal shower scene could've been staged very different so no pubic regions were shown. That is a very big calling card for a show - getting lots of publicity from the press and lots of ticket sales from the general public who may want to see naked flesh but do not want to go to a strip joint to see it.

alright- Adam Pascal, Matthew Morrison, Johnny Depp, John Tartaglia and Patrick Wilson.
"At the opening night party, they had clowns on stilts, jugglers, a chocolate fountain, popcorn, hot dogs. [My son] looked at me like I had been holding back. Like, 'This is what you do?' I had to tell him, 'No, no, darling. Opening nights don't usually look like this.' It's usually a dark bar with a bottle of vodka." ?Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's Jan Maxwell
