Got nothing better to do, but let's dream cast it. 

Stephanie J Block as the evil Pageant director (Kirstie Alley) would be brilliant. 

Jennifer Simard as the Allison Janney character. TONY AWARD.

Lauren Patten as Brittany Murphy's character. 

Also I would NOT want it to be modernized with iPhones and social media, I want it to be 1995! It would be so much better for the story with out all the distractions of shoe-horning in "modern" references.

This is one of my all time favorite movies. Every line is hilarious.

Cheno for the Ellen Barkin role.

Ha! Cheno in that role was the first thing that popped in my mind when I read the title of this thread. And Laura Benanti as the Kirstie Ally role.

Also if anyone is interested, the film is now available on Blu-Ray from Warner Bros. archive collection website.

Cheno and Simard would be fab! With maybe Leslie Kritzer in the Kirstie Alley role. Mallory Bechtel would be great in the Kirsten Dunst part.
