According to Matt Lucas, Nathan Lane can't play Thenardier because he's gay.

I really want Jane Krakowski to be Fantine. She just looks the part to me and her voice is divine

And let's be realistic, Lea Michelle will be the front runner for Eponine. She played her at the Hollywood Bowl concert and she did pretty well. I know she is not popular on these boards but I like her and I'm sure the producers will want a name for it.

And although a smaller part, and something she has never done before, it would be quite a jolly time to see Meryl Streep as Madame Thenardier haha

As mentioned in another thread, even though it is a small role, but Catherine Tate as Mme. Thénardier would be so extremely awesome.

Now that Tom Wooper has just won the Oscar's Best Director Award, I hope he is given a lot of leeway by the producers in the casting of the Les Miserables movie, if he choses to accept the directing job. And with his newly won recognition, I hope he can draw excellent actors with strong screen presence( and who can sing well, of course) into the movie project.

John Owen Jones will not be Jean Valjean in the film.

It seems all but certain that the role will be played by Alfie Boe. Mackintosh has basically confirmed it multiple times.

I suspect it will be an all British cast. Maybe the guy who played Anthony in the Sweeney Todd film can be Marius.

Tim Curry can now play Thernardier.

Many of the suggestions here are too old for the parts: Krakowski (far too old), Hathaway, even Michele. Hathaway is close to age appropriate for Fantine. Hugh Laurie should play Thenardier.
