There are usually posts about who your dream casts are for movie musicals, but not so much on your dream director. So, who would be your dream director to have for the movie of your favorite musicals.

For me, I can see either Des McAnuff or Martin Scorese doing Jersey Boys, Tim Burton is already doing Sweeney and he could probably do another one, but I don't know which one, Terry Gilliam or Terry Jones or Mike Nichols should do SpamAlot, and Chris Nolan should do one, but again I don't know which one would be good for him(Urinetown maybe??)

Do you REALLY wanna see Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter as Seymour and Audrey (actuall I think she could make a cute Audrey, hah...altghough we'll see if she can sing once Sweeney comes out).

I still would have liked to see Spike Lee's version of Rent.

I second Tim Burton doing Little Shop! He would do a lot of justice to that film over the one that came out in the 80's..although the one that came out in the 80's was good, Tim could do far better! To me, Ellen Greene was the best part of the 80's movie!

I have to say that I think that Little Shop of Horrors would be a musical that Burton could do, since like Sweeney, it's right up his alley, it's dark and quirky. I wouldn't want to see Johnny Depp as Seymour, more like Zach Braff.

I heard this thing on IMDB about Burton and Depp maybe doing a Threepenny Opera movie.

I would love to see Tim Burton do a stop motion animation (like The Nightmare Before Christmas) of INTO THE WOODS...but that's just me. lol.

Also, I WISH Mel Brooks would have directed The Producers movie.

and I second Wes Anderson with Company.

I wanted Neil Jordan for Sweeney--I'm still pretty nervous to see if Burton has the depth to pull it off. I have my doubts people seem to think it's a perfect fit but then never realize that Burton has never made one of his infamous "cute-goth" films with the elements Sweeney has

David Fincher with anything dark which has dance--he proved himself as one of the few music video directors who really can film dance coherently (Madonna's Vogue, Express yOurself, the Fosse hommage in Paula's Cold Hearted Snake etc etc) and has said repeatedly how much he likes and wants to do a musical (I know he really wanted to do Evita, with his Madonna connections I'm surprised he didn't get a better shot).

I don't get the ROb Marshall love. He did a *good* but not more musical with Chicago, the best moments of which were watered down Fosse and then proved with Geisha that he could make gorgeous imagery that neither elevated a poor script or had much depth or context to it. Not what I think we need for new move musicals.

I love Wes and I love Company but my problem is I can't really see his JD Salinger approach working for the show--or his *only* ironic use of music (so far, to be fair)
