They will pay for licensing fees for all amateur productions of the show.
I'm confused why J Hud dosen't get billed in the credit.
Lovely logo. Very beautiful. And is that Hudson's voice I hear???

Has she been officially announced by Dreamworks yet?

I assume Hudson didn't get top billing b/c she isn't a name....YET :)

I think it should have an "Introducing Jennifer Hudson" in the credit section.
At least they do have her listed...As time goes..she'll get more publicity and probably better billing....i.e. Rosario Dawson
I think that is a sweet ass idea for them to be covering the licensing costs!

I can't believe they will pay the royalties for any amateur productions of Dreamgirls.

Wow, maybe its time for bed for me. I didn't even see the press release section. Oops.
I am so excited for this; not sure how I feel about the poster though...I like the idea of "Introducing Jennifer Hudson" on there but then again anyone who watched AI Season 3 will know who she was; an absolute stand-out performer. Can't wait for Dec. next year!
Cheers,
C.

Cries in joy...leaving this thread.
Dreamworks offical statement - Jennifer Hudson

Fantastic idea! Kudos to Dreamworks for getting this out there and having amateur productions going around the country. Somebody over there should be marketing The Producers, not Universal.
I guarantee you they didn't have time to add Jennifer's name yet into the front page of this site. Jennifer will be listed in the billing bar, to be sure... but my guess is that they'll give her special credit, rather than fight for her in the billing order. For those of you who haven't suspected, billing order is always a BIG deal in Hollywood.
I'll bet you it will end up something like, "And introducing Jennifer Hudson as Effie" at the very end of the major cast credits.
HOWEVER... what no one has pointed out is that this is the first OFFICIAL listing I've seen that Anika Noni Rose is Lorell. This definitely confirms her for the part.
EDIT: I love the idea that DreamWorks will pay all amateur licensing fees for the stage show in 2006. Very smart. It's a very inexpensive way (comparatively) of generating publicity and buzz around the country. Dreamgirls isn't a show that's produced very often.

I didn't see David Geffen's name anywhere. Is he not one of the producers?
Not directly, no. Laurence Mark is producing and Patricia Whitcher is the Exec. Producer at DreamWorks.
According to IMDb, Geffen will be listed as a co-producer. Considering he co-owns DreamWorks, and his direct history with the stage show, you know he'll have his hand in it. He is the one that gave this film project the green-light. Everything will have to be done with his watchful eye.
Oh no... Here come many amateur productions of Dreamgirls...
corsairstw --- That's what I thought too. You'll see many "color blind" productions with spectacle-wearing Effies from coast to coast in 2006. Hey, it's "free" to produce!
If DreamWorks was smart, they'd hire somebody right now to run around the country with a camera and film a bit of each production for a featurette on the DVD.

This white boy has always wanted to play Effie. Maybe I can get them to pay the fees for it! =)
Great, great GREAT site. Love it.
Great!!!!!!
Slightly off-topic, but wasn't Jamie Foxx very vocal about how he thought that Fantascia was the perfect Effie? I think I remember reading something on here about that.
