Speaking of auditions - this song is perfect for my voice (yes, I am male) I just want to hear thoughts on it. I've seen the crappy movie of A Funny Thing.. but never a production. I'm also considering "Everybody Ought to Have a Dam" from South Pacific and "All I Need is a Girl" from Gypsy. This audition is for a production of Oklahoma and I am a lyrical baritone/tenor. Thanks
I can't see this song being sung for an audition with just one person (my oppinion)
Have you tried "This is the Moment" (I honestly though of this before I saw your avatar)
Well I just finished Jekyll & Hyde so i'm kinda tired of that. lol. but still - I am aiming in the style of the show and Jekyll & Hyde and Oklahoma are just a bit different.
I would not think Maid is a great choice -- from what you listed -- go with All I need is the Girl...much better chance to show off your lyric qualities

What part in Oklahoma! are you going for? Everybody Ought to Have a Maid is a good comedy song, so I guess it might be okay for Will Parker, but overall I'm with KMF- All I Need is the Girl sounds like a better choice.
Good points. Very appreciated. With Oklahoma! I'm trying to just get in the show. It's a large 50+ production so I will take anything. The opportunity is good enough for me!
"I'm also considering "Everybody Ought to Have a Dam" from South Pacific"
You're right, everybody *ought* to have a dame, and "there's nothing like a dame" either, you know?
lol.. Ah, thank you StickToPreist for correcting me there! Yea that's another good consideration. It's also R & H and is a good character piece.
I do what I can.
