Variety also a rave...
In "Everyday Rapture," Sherie Rene Scott refers to herself with typical self-effacement as "one of Broadway's biggest, brightest semi-stars." Based solely on the evidence of this bewitching not-quite-solo show, she could flesh out that job description to include storyteller, singer, dramatic actress, standup comedian, philosopher and magician, just for starters. Smart, funny and deftly balanced in its blend of self-exposure and theatrical artifice, this musical autobiography is an unpredictable voyage of spiritual reflection that charts the path of a Kansas Mennonite in New York with charming candor.
"Admittedly, there are moments when the writing of the piece feels strained. Moreover, the show's major drawback is that in trying to create a clear emotional arc from Scott's disparate narratives, it ends up with a rather pithy summation that is too forced to be meaningful. But if you focus on the journey, rather than the destination, there's much to enjoy in Everyday Rapture."

Las Vegas may now have Bette Midler. But New York has Sherie Rene Scott, who is putting on the kind of sensational diva-as-trash-goddess show this city hasn?t seen since Ms. Midler last played Radio City Musical Hall. It is called ?Everyday Rapture.? And while this singing pseudo-memoir, which opened at Second Stage Theater, is tiny by Broadway standards, it easily qualifies as one of the year?s most extravagantly entertaining new musicals.

so happy its getting good reviews. I loved it.
Wow, Brantley actually reviewed this one and he made it a Critic's Pick, nice, so happy for Sherie. Hope the plans to film it don't fall through!

Daily News is a rave: "Go See It."

Yay! I liked it the two times I saw it early in previews. Now I'm really looking forward to seeing it again next Thursday! See all the changes!
The New York Post is Very Positive with ***1/2 out of ****:
"WITH "Everyday Rapture," Sherie Rene Scott proudly comes out as a Mennonite (OK, half of one) and a geek who's into show tunes and magic tricks.
In this wonderfully crafted production, she reminisces about a Kansas childhood, sings U2's "Elevation" and skewers a balloon without popping it. Simple pleasures, maybe, but this brilliant interpreter transcends them. Underneath her earnest Midwestern gravity, Scott is sexy, funny, self-deprecating and sophisticated all at once.
...
In the end, "Everyday Rapture" affirms the need to embrace your contradictions -- and the geek within."

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing this on Saturday.
I've seen this 4 times now and couldn't be happier with these reviews. Anyone who can, should definitely run and catch it ASAP!
A very useful blog that sums up all the reviews. So happy to read these and I can't wait to see it next week!

I make it a point never to go to criticometer. I prefer to make up my own mind. I would sooner trust a friend who knows me than a person who has never met me. Any baggage I bring to a show, I want it to be my baggage, not anybody else's.
CriticOMeter is B.S.
On what planet did 9 TO 5, IRENA'S VOW, PAL JOEY, and WEST SIDE get the same level reviews?
I saw the matinee this past Saturday and loved it. Glad to hear it is well received. I would love to see this have a life beyond the scheduled closing.
