The other term I love is "vocal masturbation." I guess that leads to "eargasms," doesn't it?

See, now wouldn't that mean you're singing to yourself?
I do love the term eargasm, though. I'll definitely make use of that one..

I guess it would. Haha. Shows that we consider "vocal masturbation" shows are Les Mis, RENT, Wicked, Dreamgirls and now Brooklyn. In fact, that could be Brooklyn's new slogan... Brooklyn: vocal masturbation. I like it.

And that's your new philosophy?

I LOVE that part

I'm having an eargasm right now with Dammit Janet from Rocky Horror. LOVE THIS SONG!
"The stage is where I live and come alive and act out all the things that go on in my life. It's not just what I do for a living, it's my shrink and my love affair. No one in my life has ever or ever will kiss me on the mouth like this lover called my relationship with my performance."

There are definately a few really great ones:
Linda Eder:
- Someone Like You
- Unusual Way
- I Am What I Am
- Bells of St. Paul
Idina Menzel- Usually so much of her Wicked performances are
astounding. Also some recordings of her
doing "Imagine" and "Lean On Me" w/ the Rent Cast
Eden Espinosa- Brooklyn... period. "Defying Gravity" as well
Shoshana Bean- "As Long As Your Mine" and "Defying Gravity"
Simone- Her "Out Tonight" from Rent always stands out for me
Emily Rossum and Gerald Butler- "Phantom of the Opera", best
song on the soundtrack.
Heather Headley- AIDA!!!! SHADOWLAND!!!

Definitely last night at the Kitchen Sink, during Natalie Joy Johnson, Jenna Leigh Green, and Sara Schmidt performing "At the Ballet." Especially towards the end, when Sara got to her high belty parts. She's spectacular, and apparently Eden's new understudy in Brooklyn. Would suffer through the show if I knew ahead of time that she'd be on.

Pretty much everything that Anthony Warlow sings in Les Miserables.
Ellen Greene singing "Suddenly, Seymour" from Little Shop of Horrors.
Idina Menzel singing "Take Me or Leave Me" from Rent (the bootlegs, not the cast recording, which does that song NO justice for either of the two ladies singing it...). Also, her stuff from Wicked is pretty eargasmic when she isn't hyperventilating.
Frenchie Davis singing "Seasons of Love" from Rent.
Tommy Korberg singing "Anthem" from Chess.
Eden Espinosa and Ramona Keller singing anything in Brooklyn.
Michael Ball's last note in "Love Changes Everything" from Aspects of Love.

"Goodness is rewarded. Hope is guaranteed. Laughter builds strong bones. Right will intercede. Things you've said I often find I need, indeed. I see the world through your eyes. What's black and white is colorized. The knowledge you most dearly prized I'm eager to employ. You said that life has infinite joys."

I never got to see "Aida" and I was sad about that. However, I heard many great things about Heather Headly. I know she won the Tony, the whole nine yards. Then, I watched her perform some songs from her debut album on some AOL thing, and I was totally unimpressed. She sang off key several times, and was just quite blah. Please, someone tell me this was an off night, or is all the hype just...hype?!
