I have just realized that my upcoming plans for a Broadway theater binge weekend fall on Easter! It's been years since I was in NYC over Easter and I'm wondering if that's a terrible weekend for theater-going. Am I likely to have a lot of understudies? Anything else I should have on my radar?
I could move my trip back to late May (my favorite season for show-going!) but I might miss some things. Suggestions?
All actors are scheduled to be on at all performances unless otherwise noted, and Easter weekend should not be a factor for most of them. COVID or vocal fatigue/injury would probably be a bigger reason for missing a show. If they're new shows, the actors are likely to be in except for the reasons above.
No real history of this being an issue - the busier NY is, the less likely of understudies to be honest. There are never guarantees, but you shouldn't concern yourself or bother changing plans.
Easter weekend is just like any other weekend. You'll be just fine.

Easter shouldn't really affect callouts. There may be a handful of actors who decide to use a personal day, but most typically don't. And if you're seeing newer shows, March-May typically gives you the best odds of catching the full casts because of previews and then Tony voters coming to performances.
I saw Company last Easter with the full cast minus Larry, and in previous years King and I with O’Hara and Watanabe and the full company of the Broadway revival of Carousel. Historically, actors don’t miss for holidays. I’ve attended NYC theater since the fall of 1979 and don’t understand the source of the concern.
