I don't know exactly why I dare to respond to this thread. I've seen Idina live in RENT 10 (and not live via you tube), and I've seen Eden in Brooklyn and Wicked. I think the both have wonderful voices and are great actresses. I really do believe that when you hear any performance live it will sound different on any type of recording (including professional recordings such as the Tonys).

In addition, both actresses are gainfully employed in a killer lead role. Regardless of what you think of Wicked, you have to admit it provides a great leading role for a woman. Obviously, they wouldn't be up there for long (or asked to return in the case of Idina), if the producers didn't like what they heard. Now, I will be honest that I have no idea if they are singing correctly, and I'm not sure that by listening you could even determining that. Their voices could be shot before you know it, but I do know that I like what I hear. I didn't feel like I was being screamed at for any of the performances...
