"I never had theatre producers run after me. Some people want to make more Broadway shows out of movies. But Elliot and I aren't going to do Batman: The Musical." - Julie Taymor 1999
"According to Stephanie Block on Jul 7th, Eden will be doing san francisco so she can take time off to recoup from her injuries. In Los Angeles Stephanie has been doing 6 of 8 shows a week to get some rest."
Nothing against Eden, who I've never seen in the role, but if this is true SF will be missing out! Saw Stephanie Block in Chicago and can't imagine a better Elphaba.

I'm with Popular. Stephanie is a local girl and given the choice between continuing during the SF run or having a month with friends/family here in L.A., I can absolutely believe that it was HER decision to take time off from the tour. As to Eden taking over, she has her detractors, as did Idina (Theatreguy's comments were over-the-top, but I've heard just as many people dis Idina, who originated the role), but she HAS played the role on Broadway as standby, and after having STARRED in the title role in a Broadway musical, she has every right to finally get to play Elphaba as the above-the-title star. I can understand people's unhappiness at not seeing Stephanie; it just goes to show what a name she's become. And to think, I saw her in Funny Girl in 1993, and knew she was on to bigger and better things.
"Eden will play some dates in LA then open SF... This is from a very accurate source. She'll probably play the days in LA that Stephanie is not doing. Eden is from the LA area, so she'll probably be staying with family there. Her parents, grandparents, and uncle are very supportive and great people. I don't know the exact dates for LA...you may have to check with the theater. Hope this helps everyone."
My friend said that she thought Eden had as good of a voice if not better than Idina's (she saw Idina in the SF run, and Eden last July, and based on what she said, I almost didn't care if, when I saw Wicked last October, Eden was in for Idina). I have heard great things about Stephanie, but I would love to see either or both of them.
And then, do you know Monseiur Marius, I believe I was a little in love with you.
