Theatreboy49, the role of Sarah in Ragtime is a black woman, originally played by Audra McDonald. I think you may have your characters or actresses confused.
Andrea McArdle needs to do it if it's revived anytime soon.
When I saw her in it, she was absolutely fantastic. She would definitely emerge as a huge Tony frontrunner if she ever played this role on Broadway. There is no way (based on the performance I saw) that she would get anything less than across-the-board raves.
She's so amazingly talented and needs to come back to Broadway in general...
I love Andrea McArdle, but if people think Orfeh looks too old, Andrea DEFINITELY does. I wish I could've seen her in it still though.
Great cast in Sacremento - Eric Kunze will be Che! Really looking forward to that one.
Watch her belt the sh*t out of "Rainbow High" with Seth:

It's towards the middle of the video...and it's just incredible.

I think Eden would someday be a great Evita. She seems to be an actress who just keeps honing her acting abilities. I really enjoy her voice and if her acting keeps exponentially improving, she has the potential to blow the roof off the theatre
I already have my tickets for Evita in Sacramento with Julia Murney. I can’t wait. I have season tickets for Music Circus’s whole season, but Evita is the show I’m most excited to see. It’s my favorite ALW show and the cast is amazing. I don’t remember the last time I was this excited to see a show.

Kelly2-
Andrea is one of those *lucky* people who won't age. She still looks early 20s, and reads it too.
Theatreboy-
I think you mean the original Mother, which I had heard as well, and she chose Side Show instead.
Not too picky on who should be, but almost anyone (Eden aside) that cycled through Wicked should stay away.
I think if you search Kelly2, there's been tons of Orfeh as EVA! love over the years and any one who says she's "too old" is nuts. I think we'd all pay good money to see that, except for maybe Thesbejean.

Please, I've been saying Orfeh for a long time. She's be perfect and looks preternaturally young. There's no rasp in Orfeh's singing voice and I always find it strange when people think there is. She can make it sound raspy like when she did Love, Janis but I've heard her sing Gershwin and it was clear as a bell.
I hope this doesn't turn in to one of "those" threads but it's inevitable.
they could do the whole Orfeh, Evita, Evita, Orfeh things like Letterman did with Oprah Uma for the promos.
All of these gals could handle the score if coached properly. However, I would like an actress in her late 20's to play it. Aren't most Eva's around that age?

That picture did scream "young Eva" to me when I first looked at it. I'm not as familiar with Eden anymore - I saw her in Wicked back in 04, but I've heard she's changed some vocally from then so I have no idea how I'd feel about her as Eva.
And unrelated, but I want to agree with the person who was not a fan of the idea of Julia Murney as Eva being so waspy and thin. In my mind I see Eva being... fuller? No matter though, really, because I think she will vocally excell at the role.
