After looking at the Flora pics from Encores, I think Broadway producers should knock down walls to get Eden to play Eva Peron in "Evita" now! I think she has the package to play that role and do it justice. Any thoughts?
Is Evita is to be revived, I think Orfeh is a better choice.

Orfeh? Are you kidding me? You couldn't pay ME to see her play that role.
Not sure she has the chops... yet

There is an Evita revival in Sacramento this summer/ fall with Julia Murney. Won't transfer though...
I'm still aching for a production of EVITA with the sensational Jennifer Cody. Since her hubby Hunter has already played Che regionally (his sister Sutton played Peron's Mistress), I say bump him up to the role of Juan Peron.
Eden is a compitent singer, but not much of an actress. Plus, she would destroy the music with the screechy belting and icky "Mariah type" runs she would eventually add as the run went on. Shoshana too!
If anyone should be playing Evita, it should be Julia Murney. Her version of Buenos Aires at Seth's Broadway 101 was enough to make me want to fly to Sacramento to see her do it.
I'm gonna second the idea of Orfeh playing EVITA. She'd be completely brilliant, and I'd love to see her prove everyone who doubts it wrong.
I like Julia M as well, but something doesn't sit right with me in regards to her playing Eva. I don't think a latina has to play the role, but the gal should not look so waspy and thin. I like her voice, but I find her upper range to be a bit shrill.
Bleh, no thank you.
Orfeh, a bit too old don't you think? I'd prefer Ripley if we're not casting for age.
Orfeh is younger than Julia Murney...5 years younger, actually...
I like Ripley too, but again...so waspy! However, I would love to hear her sing the score.
oh puleeze!
the only to play Eva Peron is Jennifer Holliday.
And Jen Cody? Really?
Eden was actually in the running for 'Evita' in London a couple of years ago, they flew her over for the auditions, and she got to the final 3.
I think Barbara Eden would be great!
Lea Salonga would certainly be an interesting choice.
I'd also like to see Mandy Gonzalez or Andrea Burns take on the role. Both would be equally fabulous.
I still can't understand the lack of support for ORFEH EVITA. Mandy Gonzalez seems like a good choice too.
Kelly2, Orfeh would bring many interesting qualities to the role, but one can't help but think that the natural raspiness of her voice wouldn't sit well with the score.
I've heard her sing "Maybe This Time", and "My Strongest Suit", and the "raspiness" in her voice was much less pronounced. Hearing her sing the score is one of my personal chief reasons for wanting her to get cast, beyond that she looks perfect for it, and could embody Eva perfectly, IMO.

Absolutely.
I really like Orfeh, but I just can't picture her as Evita (same goes for Eden).

Correct me if im wrong but wasnt Alice Ripley supposed to be the original Sarah in Ragtime? I remember hearing that somewhere. And if thats true Im sure she could look the role.

I can't really picture Eden in this role either. I don't think her voice would suit the role either, just IMO.
