You can tell how realistic the production design is... she is so plain jane!

The photographs you've posted Mateo are fantastic. I'm amazed at the attention to detail in the sets, in particular, but the entire production design so far looks incredibly somber and realistic which doesn't seem very fun...

HE looks so much like a housewife from teh midwest who really has no clue ... i am very impressed by the PD on this film.

I know all the ahters are going to be in full force, but I think he looks great too! very plain- very edna.. just wait till hes sixtied up!

I don't quite know what I see wrong with it. It may just be the pose/his facial expression. He looks... disturbed. I may need to see the mascara'd, rouge'd, and eyeshadow'd version of it to be won over.

I agree with MB. Everything's looking pretty drab at the moment... nothing too exciting.

Haha, I'm about to get this reputation as the guy who doesn't like how the Hairspray movie is going. :)

I guess I just expected the film to have a more camp art direction - along the lines of the original. If you remember how Divine looked in the same scene in the original film - Edna's outfit was a little more blatantly comedic and absurd.

Who knows though. Maybe the film is going to do a WIZARD OF OZ thing in which the costumes and colors gradually become brighter and more kitschy.

it looks like they really have sucked the cheese from the bway show - and are going to give us a fabulous hybrid.

- not all the cheese... but to me it looks like they are really making it look like this film is baltimore 1962 and not some hollywood interpratation.


Im sure it will camp up for the production numbers and other scenes.

well yeh, we are just looking at Paparazzi shots.

when we see footage we can make a better assessment.

I agree with everything you said in the above quote except you need to change the word "woman" with "actor" and the word "her" with "his".


He looks like a fat momma from the skids.

And in the above quote change the word "Momma" to "actor" and the word "from" to "on" and you will have hit the nail.
