Cameron Mackintosh was "gob-smacked" by her performance, two-time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone was moved to tears, and now "Britain's Got Talent" contestant Susan Boyle has another theatre artist in her corner: Elaine Paige.
On her weekly BBC Radio 2 program Paige, who created leading roles in Evita, Cats and Chess on the West End stage, told her audience, "It seems [Susan Boyle's] performance has really captured the hearts of everyone who saw it, me included. . . . Ever since Susan's appearance on 'Britain's Got Talent' my inbox has been flooded with e-mails. Perhaps we should record a duet?"
Paige also added, "I will continue to watch and I wish you every success."

It would be a nice boost for Elaine's career. She hasnt been out there much lately. The single would sell like nobody's business. Maybe a cover of "Enough is Enough". hahahahahaha

It has to be "Who Will Love Me As I Am?" from Side Show
Perhaps they can recreate the Happy Days Are Here Again/Get Happy number that Garland performed with Liza in London and Streisand on TV.
I like Goth's idea, actually.

This is a most bizarre phenomenon.
PRS, I'm with you on this one. I'd care more about Susan Boyle if she wasn't on my TV all the time.

I saw an "essay" on this that said Susan Boyle was a better singer than Elaine Paige, who was only successful because she was attractive. It made me so very angry.
^ I know I hate people comparing them saying Susan is better than Elaine etc... They are completely different.
I saw Elaine on her recent UK tour and she absolutely blew me away! Fantastic and emotional performance.
Having seen EP in concert several times, the thing that is so astonshing about her, in addition to her brilliant crystal clear voice, is her acting.......her interpretation of the lyrics!
I read the thread too quickly and honestly thought it said "Elaine Stritch wants to duet with Susan Boyle." I was quite confused.
Hahaha... Miss Pennywise... I think the ladies should do an ep. They can do a tender ballad and a more uptempo piece. "Who Will Love Me As I Am" is an inspired choice Goth. Great idea.
