Get both. But if you're only getting one, definitely get the DVD.
The show is absolutely incredible. What a journey she takes you on. You will laugh and cry. It's an extremely well constructed show.

Posted: 8/3/10 at 2:24pmI own the DVD and have watched it once. It was not filmed on Broadway. It was filmed in London and it seems that the audience didn't get a lot of references. It is a good show but I think the DVD would have been more enjoyable had it been filmed on Broadway as I think the audience response would have been more "enthusiastic". Just my opinion.

The DVD features a few stories that are not on the CD... such as her auditioning for Dorothy on "The Golden Girls". Also, she dumbs down a few jokes that are very "New York" for the London audiences. All and all, they're both great.

Posted: 8/3/10 at 5:14pmIt's interesting to try and determine what is true and what is made up. I've caught her in about three "fabrications".

Posted: 8/7/10 at 8:34pmWhat a PHENOMENAL legacy! I just watched the DVD. I cried at the weirdest time, when she acted like Brandon (the little kid) and started skipping saying, "it's time." It was beautiful! thank you all for recommending it!!!!!!

Posted: 8/7/10 at 8:50pmI saw the show on Broadway, and it was one of the greatest theater experiences ever. She totally changed the traditional one-woman or one-man show, raising the bar for anyone who followed. She tweaked the show from off-Broadway to Broadway, and then again for London. The CD was recorded in NY (off-Broadway?) and the DVD in London, so there were some alterations between the two. I strongly recommend owning both.
