I don't know if anyone saw this casting notice but it sure caught my attention!
The good news? Bob Martin
The bad news? Elf? Really?
I actually think Elf is a really cute movie.
Hey, it could have been Ricky Bobby the Musical.
Also, since it's got a Christmas theme, it's probably just gonna run in the winter months.

Well, let's see. We had "The Grinch.." in 2006 & 2007, "White Christmas" for 2008 & 2009. Who knows, maybe we'll have "Elf" for 2010 & 2011.

The last reading had an AMAZING cast. Plus, the original movie is fricking amazing.
Ummmm... Norbert Leo Butz, anyone?
I saw the reading last year. It was actually really cute and well done. I remember a touching duet between the mother (Beth level) and the son.
I thought Amy Spanger was ok - but now that I know all of the stuff that went down with RoA - I understand why I didn't like her.
Jesse Tyler Ferguson was his usual self but it worked very well. My firend who was in the reading said he'd enjoyed Christain Borle's version better.
I could def see this piece working for the holidays
Oh thank God. I read that wrong and thought someone was doing ALF the Musical.
It could work - especially as a special event for the holidays. The creative staff is solid and the film has a lot of heart that could translate to stage very well
Was anyone else of note in the reading, NakedMaid?
Casting notice came out this morning on Breakdowns looking for Santa.
Listed workshop dates from November 2 - December 12.
Any updates? I was just thinking aboout this today for some reason. I think it could be really good with Bob Martain on board.

Casting-wise, I think it's only funny if Buddy is over 6' tall. Norbert Leo Butz and Jesse Tyler Ferguson both look too much like actual elves to be funny.
Elf can't have an actor who is kind of funny (a la Borle) as the lead. It needs someone who breathes comedy into roles and finds better and better bits as he goes. I second Chris Sieber. What that man did with even the smallest moments of Shrek was amazing.

I believe Noah Weisberg was attached to this project as Buddy at one point, but I don't know where that stands now. I hope he's still involved!

That would be an awesome idea. How tall is he though?

Well, not as tall as Chris Sieber lol. But not short either.
