Ken Page as Nicely again!? I can't wait to see this.
Holy crap. I saw Amir Talai in the ensemble of a community theatre production of Evita like 14 years ago. (He was u/s Che.)
Wow - what a cast.
Compare that to the incredibly cast revival on Broadway now.
I'm surprised its still running.
I have been waiting years for Ms. Greene to tackle this role!
What a Cast!
Valarie Pettiford and Jane Lainer as Hot Box Girls doing Mckechnie choreography?!?!? Wow, audiences should be in for a treat (not to mention Ellen Greene as Adelaide).
Anyone notice that, in the cast list below the article, John Mahoney wasn't listed as Arvide anymore? That's a shame.
Looks like a great cast, though (although I'm still a little unsure about Jessica Biel). Can't wait for the YouTubes! XD

HOW HAS SHE NEVER PLAYED THIS ROLE BEFORE?
Amir Talai is my friend's boyfriend...damn, he could be my in to meet Ellen Greene!!!
I wonder if she'll sign my Threepenny Opera record. I heard she's kind of a bitch.
When I saw this, all I could think was "Perfect!"
Dear Lord, I think the producers have become the first humans to achieve absolute perfection with casting Ellen Greene as Adelaide!!!

Where was this casting for the revival???
Jeez. However, I'm very excited for this.
Did Telsey & Co. cast the revival. If they did, they should be punished by casting High School shows for the next 15 years.
I SO don't see it. I'm an incredibly old person myself so I rarely make comments about people being too old for parts but Ellen Green is 57 years old. I know it's just a concert version but those songs were written for a showgirl and the visual image of Ellen singing them just seems ridiculous. (I'm quite aware of the fact that I'm going to be drawn and quartered for saying it.)
Vivian Blaine was 29 when she originated Miss Adelaide on Broadway and by the time the movie was made she was 34 and looked too old even then.

It's a concert version.
Is it a concert like a concert or concert like Les Miz at the Bowl?
I acknowledged that. But you'll note that these notes still refer to 'perfect casting'. For perfect casting there should be as least a modicum of believability. There just isn't any in this to me. (Even Stokes seems too old.)
I will further add that I am older than all of them and I still feel strongly about this. Can't help it - I just do. Bring out the rotten fruit...
If they are truly great, and not visibly decrepit, they will be able to transcend their age(s).
She might be a little old but she looks pretty good for a woman going on 60, and her type is great for the character.

I did think that "too old" thought at first too. However, Ellen looks GREAT for someone her age. Hell, I'm 20 and gay and I still think she's hot lol. Well, maybe not "hot", but definitely cute! I don't have anything personal against Lauren Graham (I hear she's a very sweet lady), but I'd rather see Ellen Greene at 57 play this role on Broadway.
The revival that should have been.
But hasn't Adelaide been engaged for 14 years? It would then make sense to cast a slightly older actress. After all, if Vivian Blaine was 29 when she played the role it would suggest that Nathan proposed to a 15 year old girl. Now THAT seems inappropriate.

Oh, how this pleases me. I'm always wishing she'll get more work. Such an incredible performer.
I saw her in San Francisco, in a cabaret evening titled "Torch", which later became her latest cd "In His Eyes". It was one of the most powerfully intimate and moving cabaret performances I've ever seen.
Love her.
Ellen Greene is perfect for the role! I was in "Oliver!" with her back in the 90's... she was one of the best Nancy's I have ever seen!

...except that accordingto the lines inthe show, Nancy is supposed to be around 20.
