I just got her solo Cd. What an amazing performer, with a versatile voice. Touching and hilarious. Great song selection too. Her "Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most" is so perfect.
Any other Skinner fans out there?

I loved her in Side Show, and she was great at Wall to Wall Sondheim. She sang, "Can That Boy Foxtrot"... very funny.
She was great at Wall to Wall, even if she forgot the lyrics. She covered well though.

I've got both of the duet cd's she's done with Alice Ripley and her solo cd as well. I like her voice, it's very versatile. My favorite song on her solo cd is "The Money Tree" - what a track!!

Haha, yeah she did flub a line or two
Well at one point she just hums until she remembers the lyrics.
And her "Money Tree" is great. One of my favorite songs in general. I also enjoy her "What Did I Have That I Don't Have".
I'm a huge Emily fan. She's consistently superb.

She notoriously messes up lyrics. A favorite is when she sang "I'll buy you a wing" instead of "I'll bandage your wing" in the duet "Don't You Be Shaking Your Faith In Me" with A-Rips.
Gotta love it.
Was it her or Alice who messed up during the Tony Awards?
Yes, Emily is terrific, such a voice--it has such character and richness. And she's a joy to watch on stage. I've had the luck of seeing her in four different productions:
Company at The Kennedy Center (twice)
Merrily We Roll Along at Kennedy Center
The Encores! concert of No Strings
The Full Monty (twice)
I absolutely adore Emily Skinner! She's just all things amazing.
It was most certainly NOT Emily who messed up on the Tony's. It was Alice. She completely blanked out and Emily saved her ass! She had the opening line and started with the second verse which starts with "I'm scared, Daisy" instead of saying, "What have we done?"
It was SUPPOSED to be:
V: "What have we done?
D: "Learned the truth."
V: "Closed a door."
D: "Opened more."
V: "I'm scared, Daisy."
D: "Of what?"
V: "Being alone."
D: "But you're not, you never have been."
INSTEAD, it ended up...
V: "I'm scared, Daisy."
D: (insert Emily needing to explain why Violet is scared... "Hey, let's pick a line from another song in the show! That kind of, sort of, makes sense, right?!") "We've lost our men."
V: "Closed a door."
D: "Opened more."
V: ("Yay, Emily saved my ass and now we can continue like nothing happened and I am once again a happy Alice.. except of course for that damn Natasha Richardson who is going to steal our Tony in five minutes!") "I'm scared."
D: "Of what?"
Etc., etc.!
Emily's quick thinking saved what could have been a messy situation on national television.
Eh, whatever. We all have brain farts every now and then. Alice's are a little more interesting-- like the time she sang into the wrong end of the microphone.
She's special. :)

Oh my gosh! I am SUCH a fan. Her voice is wonderful, and she can really deliever a song. I would love to hear her and Raul Esparza do a duet. They are both so similar in that way.
I just recently bought her solo cd. It is amazing. My favorite number is "What did I have..."
My new favorite number on that CD is "My Brother Lived in San Francisco". Amazing.
I love her "Alto's Lament" from the 2nd duets CD. It's SUCH a scream!!! I've only seen her in Full Monty, but REALLY wish I would have seen Side Show.
I loved her in Side Show!
