Ok, your opinion. I've seen her Wendla multiple times as well as other roles, and she has been phenomenal each time. So yes, you can shake it so her Wendla is amazing. She has one of the strongest voices in the whole cast, IMO. So, while you're entitled to your own opinion, it's pretentious and completely out of line for you to try and tell other people their opinions on an actor are wrong. This girl has a huge Broadway career in front of her.
Lauren, you sound so bitter. What's the matter? Did you not get a callback?
I saw Emma two nights ago and I found her acting to be leaps and bounds beyonds Lauren Pritchard's. Her voice isn't as unique as Lauren's is but it's lovely just the same.
And I love Alezandra Socha as Wendla. I hope she replaces Lea when she leaves.

Hey Lauren, tell us how you REALLY feel!
This is the same as the OMG TAMYRA Gray DOESN'T HAVE MIMI HAIR freakout. It'st just hair. NFBD. This poor gal is already getting hated on for her role in the show because of her haircut...is that what broadway audiences have come to? When they care about what the actor looks like and not the actual performance? Pretty pathetic. Wait til you actually see her in the role before you judge.

I'm not gonna lie- it makes me kinda sad that Emma doesn't have long hair just because I absolutely LOVE Lauren's hair. I just think it's gorgeous and so perfectly bohemian hehe. But no, honestly, I would never critisize Emma on her performance just because she doesn't have the hair. At all. That would be silly. It just makes me personally sad not to see Lauren there with her gorgeous hair, that's all. lol
Anyway, it's great to hear that Emma is doing well! I'm sure she'll improve even more and be great :)

Alexandra Socha is replacing Lea Michele in May
Jonathan Groff will be replaced some currently uninvolved with the show.
As for MY opinion on Socha... her acting is amazing, but her singing is only okay.

I saw SA on the 22nd and Kate Burton said that Alexandra was going to replace Lea. And Emma was really good as Ilsa. I'm really particular about whether or not I like a performance and I wasn't disappointed with her at all.

I haven't seen Emma yet, but I've heard good things.
I actually really, really enjoyed Alexandra Socha as Wendla. I felt that she lacked some of the stage prescence that Lea Michelle has but her acting is great and her singing even better.
As far as Emma Hunton is concerned...she's fine. Nothing extraordinary but perfectly acceptable for Ilsa. I think the part is just horrible written..I wasn't a fan of Lauren Pritchard either.
I just saw the show for the first time on Saturday and I thought Emma was very good, her voice is very rich and wonderful, and her acting is good for what there is for her character to do.
I saw Alexandra Socha as Wendla, and I thought she did a bang up job, her voice was great for the most part [a tad shaky during "Whispering"] but still very good. Her acting was very good, she broke my heart when she was being lead away for the abortion.

"I think casting got a little too caught up in the fact she looks the part! Even that is a little sketchy."
Oh my! Who would've thought? Actually casting someone who LOOKS the part?
I saw Emma last week - a very different looking Ilse. Her hair - YES - threw me off right away but at the same time I find it really works. No one else in the show has that jet black short hair...so she really stands out. At first I wasn't sold...and then she sang. Very pretty voice...not that raw sound like Lauren had. It's like what they said about Blake when he started...more of a musical theatre sounding voice...her Blue Wind was great. Acting was impressive as well.

I liked Alexandra Socha better than Lea Michele when I saw her recently. She was excellent. She had the energy, acting skills, and I thought her voice was very good. I am excited to see the show this Sat. evening (Stage seat!). I hope that Alexandra Socha is on again. (She was this past weekend.) I wish they'd let Matt Doyle or Jesse Swenson take over as Melchior-both are very good choices.

so i just read this entire thread, and saw maybe 2 brief opinions of emma hunton....and i figured I would add mine about her and the show yesterday...
So i saw the show yesterday (3/1 mat.) It was fantastic...one of the top times I have seen it...I was on stage and could just feel the energy pounding all around the theater.....There were a few understudies (Jesse-Otto, Matt- Hanchsen, Jenna-Thea and Gerard- Ernst) THe show was great, as were the understudies, even the usher commented to me on the way out how it was one of the best performances he has seen yet....
some of the highlights-
Mama Who Bore Me (reprise)- GOSH, I love sitting on stage during this number. So much energy and passion stomping around the stage!!
Touch Me- Always gives me chills, and yesterday was no different, it was fantastic.
And Then There Were None- Blake has totally proved himself in this song...and in the scene right before with his father- You could just see the tears in his eyes from where I was sitting- so real, and just amazing acting!!
Don't Do Sadness/Blue Wind- Both Blake and Emma totally owned this song, it was just incredible.
Totally F*cked- WELL DUH. The most energy in this song that I have seen since the strike ended :)
anyway- Emma.....I was a little skeptical about what she was going to be like- being so young and "different" than Lauren Pritchard- but I was proved wrong about judging her, she was great- her acting was wonderful and really touching suring her monologue with Moritz in DDS/BW.....Her singing- even though in a totally different field than Lauren, she was amazing. This girl has a fantastic voice and really gave chills during Blue Wind.
I think she is a great replacment as Ilse....

saw her on friday, she sounded BEAUTIFUL, looked great, and her acting was WONDERFUL. she fit the part really well. i never saw lauren in the show, but from her line delivery on the cd (i know, not a good way to judge) it sounds like emma trumps her acting-wise. I loved her in it. and she was adorable and very sweet after the show. YA EM
Glad to hear such positive comments about Emma! Thanks BlueWindSadness and henrybutler!

Haha sorry.
As for Lauren, I saw her every time 6 out of the 7 times I've seen the show, one being her last show. I have nothing but great things to say about her voice and her acting. However, I'm sure that Emma is fabulous. Spring Awakening has an extremely tallented cast and they wouldn't mess that reputation up by hireing anyone who was less than incredible.

As for MY opinion on Socha... her acting is amazing, but her singing is only okay.
I Agree. I saw her 3 times in Wendla and she was off key in Whispering everytime I saw.
